If you have not heard of the band Crossbreed here is an interview with their keyboardist Flip. They recently released their debut album on Artemis Records called "Synthetic Division" with 12 tracks of pure energy. Flip will say the rest… When and how did Crossbreed form? "Crossbreed formed in '96 when Chris, Travis, and Charlie decided to start a band. James took the vocal position shortly after, then they decided to incorporate two keyboardists to get a more industrial/techno/metal sound." Who came up with the name 'Crossbreed'? "Charlie came up with it." Who had the idea to wear glow makeup and glow suits? "I believe James came up with the idea and Dan made it happen" What mostly sets the tone for song writing? "We mainly sit in a room by ourselves for hours trying to come up with ideas. There's no specific tone that's set." Name some of your influences. "Ministry, Korn, White Zombie, Techno." Tell us about you. "I'm the keyboardist. I'm pretty boring, I don't do much, and I answer the interviews." Now Kittie had a major role in getting you signed to Artemis Records, do you still talk with them? "Yes, we do." What are your religious beliefs? "There is no God of any sort." Do you have any plans for recording you next album yet? "We've been writing some new stuff for the next album, but we're going to do as much touring as possible before recording it." What are some of your favorite bands in the bay area? "Lets see... Calm, Flo Factor, Halo, Trendkill (formerly Puddin Hogs), Lo, Chumley's Toy, Attica, and Neurotica." How would you describe the unique sound Crossbreed presents? "We try to mix Techno/Industrial/Metal all in one." And one last thing, how did you get the nickname Flip? "It was given to me in high school cause it sounds like Philip said fast." |
