Join the FREAK FACTORY on Saturday April 26th 2003 at FACTORY 1187 Edgewood Ave @ 17 South factory.iamwhati.com ![]() THE FREAK FACTOR FACTORY, Jacksonville’s premier industrial-Goth club night, partners with FREAK FRIDAZE out of Pensacola for a one-night event called FREAK FACTORY on Saturday April 26th. We spoke with FREAK FRIDAZE creator Madam Braidz, a professed military brat that has been "all around the world." From experiencing the beauties of Europe and Central America all the U.S. has to offer. Though originally from Key West, she stakes her claim as a native of Pensacola, Florida. Her DJ career began at the tender age of 15, spinning at house parties with 2 CD players and a mixer, she spun a lot of old school industrial and techno. The first record she ever bought was "Love Song" by the Cure (one of our favs). Her first club gig as a DJ was in Clarksville, Tennessee in a cafe/club called the Retro. "After I started spinning, I'd go to small industrial parties that DJ Black used to throw while he was still living here in Pensacola,” Braidz said. “ A few people knew that I was a DJ, but I didn't tell too many people because I was the 'new girl.' After a couple years of studying Pensacola and its scene, I decided to step up out of the shadows. I had been going to 'Bedlam' the local techno club here for years, so I had a lot of connections and friends in the business. A close friend who just happened to be head of promotions and marketing for the club approached me. He asked me if I was ready to "unleash my wrath" on Pensacola's Goth/Industrial scene. I just smiled and said 'sure.'" FREAK FRIDAZE is a once a month industrial event hosted by Madam Braidz and her DJ crew just hours away in Pesacola. "FREAK FRIDAZE is my baby!" Braidz said. A Goth/Industrial night birthed from a "small seed" in June of 2002, its not yet been a very long run, but the night keeps growing and growing. "I got together a crew (My boys work hard in this production company. I love them all very much!) and we planned the first FREAK FRIDAZE a month and a half in advance and promoted our asses off!” Braidz said. “It was hard work, but the first night was awesome! We had tons of people. That was last June. We've thrown them every second Friday since." FREAK FRIDAZE has recently starting booking popular bands and regional acts. "We want our nights in Pensacola to become SO big, that we have to either get a bigger venue, or build our own club,” Braidz said. “I think the Team that I have now, is my favorite out of all of the crews that I've had. We have a lot more ambition and goals now and its only going to get better!" Aside from the FREAK FRIDAZE night the crew also does out of town gigs that span the Southeast including a monthly up in Mobile, Alabama called "Object Disorient" at club Velvet. "We all travel together to different towns unleashing our awesome sets and heart- pounding, hard-pumping music," Braidz said. So what can they offer us in Jacksonville? Braidz says, "We plan to pack the dance floor and make your scene remember us always, and ask for us back!" "It is a thrill to meet others from around the state and join up to really help support this lifestyle." sayid Max Michaels, promoter of the FACTORY. "We always strive to support local guest DJ’s as well as many music and stage acts, from the Seduction performers, to Curse Makey of Thrill Kill Kult, we’ve always had the very best talent there is to offer. I think we’re going to do that again this April with FREAK FACTORY. I hope this can become a regular thing." _______________________________________ SEDUCED AGAIN! “COMMENCEMENT” Due to the success of the PASSION party this past February the extremely popular club night returns by popular demand. Patrons clamored for another SEDUCTION night before the last one even ended. On April 5th 2003 the original cast and crew return to the Marquee Theatre in 5 Points for another outrageous night of the classic theatrical stage shows that made Seduction a destined hot spot and “staple” of the Jacksonville club scene 5 years ago this May. Subsequently a 5 year anniversary reunion party “BLACK & BLUE” is planned for May 10th 2003. In April the crew begins with the special one night event “COMMENCEMENT” the first in a series of SEDUCTION nights planned throughout 2003. “COMMENCEMENT” will feature the unquestionable talents of the legendary duo BLIXX & RAVYNN and their saucy troupe of taboo theater performers. Special guest performers include Mistress Kitten, the main stage performer from FACTORY, Jacksonville’s only dedicated Goth/Industrial night. Brittany Moore returns once again as SEDUCTIONs ballsy MC with guest co-host Chumley who can be heard daily on Planet Radio 93.3. Female impressionist Syndel tucks the goods and flaunts her style all over this party. Plus the ever popular eye candy of the SEDUCTION dancers and stilt-walkers. Dj Anonymous and Victoria spin a classic blend of alternative dance, hip hop and modern club hits. FACTORY resident Alex Pagan spins a mix of goth, industrial and future pop in the backstage. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster all ticketmaster outlets including Carribbean Connection at the beach and in 5 Points. SEDUCTION reunites on April 5th at the Marquee Theatre (formerly Club 5) in the historic five points arts district, just minutes from Downtown Jacksonville. You can call the Marquee for more information at 904.356.5555 or visit their web site www.marqueetheatre.com. SEDUCTION also hosts its own web presence at iamwhati.com/seduction a dedicated site to honor the memory of the club night that changed the way Jacksonville parties, filled with photo galleries, past flyers from specialty events and current information on upcoming shows.
