REVIEWS: by Rick Lutz Psycotrance 2002 continually mixed by DJ Brian Moonshine Music The eighth installment of the Psycotrance series comes on head strong and just in time for the summer. This latest brings you the mixture of epic house, hard-edged trance, and a blend of techno that will leave most fans pleased and exited to find out what's to come in the future. DJ Brian has also made a name for himself as a favored producer and has just recently completed his own studio where he has put together many singles for release. Two of these recent singles can be found on this disc along with some really top-notch production. Some of the other acts include Christian West, Dave Banks, Nuclear Ranjet, N.T.S.X., along with your host DJ Brian. If you're a fan of DJ's Mr.C., Eric Powell, or D:FUSE then you should really have a good listen with this one. Keep you eyes out because it's going to be a big summer for releases and tours from Moonshine. Sessions Volume 3 Strictly Hype Recording Afterhours We always love getting double discs that have real flavor and personality like this one. The third volume comes to us with a nice balance of good old-fashioned house music and a splash of the surrounding styles that have made dance music what it is today. You go from funky to jazzy, up tempo to mellow with ease and without losing the overall feel of the mix. The first disc is an unmixed compilation from artists like Johnny Fiasco, Matt Warren, Roy Davis, Irving Project, and Rick Garcia. On this disk you will hear some of the newest and greatest unreleased tracks and even some reworked classics. There are also several original tracks that are thrown in that you are sure to enjoy as well. The second disc is a mixed disc put together by legendary Chicago DJ Ron Carroll. Here you have flawlessly mixed vocals with some of the smoothest house I've heard recently. This is a must for all fans of just straight up house music. We send out a full recommendation for this release and we love to hear what all of you out there really think. Sessions volume 3 is out now and can be found at pretty much any house music record store around town. If you want further info then check out www.shrgroup.com or www.afterhoursmusic.com and enjoy! Bedrock "Foundations" Pioneer Entertainment (USA) John Digweed's famous club Bedrock which turned record label has shelled out a remarkable double disc of label releases and famous works. This is the first compilation of Bedrock label releases that has ever been available to the public. Not only are you getting the hottest tracks from John's unique and explosive dance collection, you get to hear them on two CD's in chronological order. Yes, you can follow song by song in order of when they were released. This shows how Bedrock has consistantly brought you some of the finest dance classics in recent years. When I took the time to listen to both CD's back to back I never lost interest and was pleased with the overall sound quality. They're the kind of disc's that you can enjoy on most any speaker system and still get the same feel. You can go from your car stereo to you computer speakers and still hear all the details that give Bedrock songs they're personality. Here's a listing of some of the tracks you will find throughout and of course its out in stores now!! Bedrock 'Heaven Scent' + 'Voices' - Science Dept. 'Repercussion' + 'Persuasion' Van M. & Leeds 'More' - Moonface 'Overactive' - Mainline 'Narcotic' Justin Leeds 'Force 51' - Austin Leeds 'Moondriver' - Steve Lawler 'Rise In' |
![]() COMMENTARY: MEKKA tour This summer biggest let down came when the promoters and organizers of the MEKKA tour canceled the tour in it’s entirety. The only surviving party was at Club Space in Miami who was a destination spot for the MEKKA party. The advertised line up for the MEKKA party was a virtual whos-who of electronic entertainment. Sadly it has been “postponed” but as late in the game as they called it quits that generally means we won’t see a rescheduling anytime soon. But we can only hope. the Club Space party in Miami Photos kindly provided by Media Services. |
