IMPERIAL MOVES TO FIVE POINTS. MERGES WITH FUEL.

FUEL, the Five Points caffeine icon, and THEE IMPERIAL, downtown Jacksonville's swanky temple of cool, are merging. What does this mean exactly? While the rumor mill grinds away, we got it straight from the owners. The scoop is that Rock N Roll Pizza, which has served in the front of Thee Imperial in its downtown location, will remain there at 325 W. Forsyth Street. Meanwhile, its creator, Lisa Thomas, has left the downtown location, and, working with business partner Arthur Bednar, and Jim Webb, creator of Fuel, has set sight on Five Points for a new venture: Thee Imperial at Fuel Coffeehouse in Five Points. When? Grand Opening bash is New Years Eve with My Hotel Year, The Julius Airwave, The Dirtybirds, Cubby and Unruly July. And what does this mean for Fuel Coffeehouse? Realizing that club mergers in the past have realistically been less than successful, they decided to keep one identity instead of trying to merge them together. Here, the new club will be called Thee Imperial, but will continue to offer all the coffees, specialty drinks, desserts and food but with the addition of beer and wine. But what does this mean for Fuel's all ages, caffeine craving, art and indie clientele? Simple: up until 9pm, it will be as it is now, but with the addition of HAPPY HOUR which is 5-8 every day. After 9pm, various theme nights will occur. Some will be all ages, featuring live music, and others, 18 and up, will feature dance and other entertainment. Lisa and Jim are also focusing on an upgraded food menu (including vegan and vegetarian dishes!) to compliment the existing specialty coffees, desserts and the like. Wine pairings with a Happy Hour Menu are also planned along with several Import and Domestic brews on tap. Various drink specials for the 21 and up crowd will be offered during Happy Hour as well as throughout the evenings. Promotions include Dirty Mondays - indie rock and quarter beer; bands will battle Tournament style on Tuesdays; Wednesdays return to "1984" for a retro dance night, and Thursdays through Saturdays will include live music. Sundays are planned to be a little quieter with Acoustic Pint Night, featuring musicians with a more mellow bent. The first Friday of every month with "FIRST FRIDAYS" will continue to be free with acoustic performances when national acts are not scheduled to grace the stage. Jon and Charles of Monarchy 5 will also present THE MODERN LIFE on the last Friday of each month with mod bands and DJs. Movement Magazine will continue to present THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW on the last Saturday of each month as well. To keep the party going, breakfast will be offered from 2am until dawn every Friday and Saturday. Stay tuned to www.theeimperial.com for more information. See you out New Years Eve for the first party of 2003 from Jacksonville's newest live entertainment venue and club!

SATURDAY NIGHT SEDUCTION RETURNS TO 5 POINTS.

It was once called a “staple” of the thriving Jacksonville club scene by the Times Union. Thousands of people experienced the phenominon. This February we all have the chance to relive the spectacle that was SATURDAY NIGHT SEDUCTION. Saturday February 8th 2003 the original cast and crew of SEDUCTION return home to the club where it all began. Bringing back the “Fetish Theatre” performances of Blixx & Ravynn, the sharp tounged banter of SEDUCTION MC Brittany Moore as well as female impressionists, fire breathers, stilt walkers and dancers. This is the first time SEDUCTION will be at the former Club 5 (now the Marquee Theatre) in over two years. Do not miss this one night event! We can only hope if it does well the cast and club will consider making it a more frequent event!
