LOCALS ONLY
GREYFIELD

Greyfield’s presence on the local scene signals the arrival of the next generation of groups that will be carrying on the tradition of legendary Jacksonville-grown talent like Inspection 12 and Yellowcard.

In Greyfield’s case, the band members are no strangers to playing Jacksonville, or being involved in music at all. Guitarist/singer Allan Leavell boasts credits including Jack City Old School Carpool, Last Chance, and the better-known (and not native) band Against All Authority.

Greyfield first got airplay in Jacksonville back when Planet Radio still had their Native Noise program. The band has come a long way from “How Could I?”, the single that used to be pumped when the airwaves of 93.3 were locally dominated for an evening. Since then, the band has had a chance to gel, and their latest release, Soundtrack to the Summer, is packed full of enough quality songs that it helped the band get tapped for the opening slot on Goldfinger’s last tour.

Despite the fact they’ve been criss-crossing the East coast getting the attention of music fans and screaming teenage girls alike, Greyfield still puts in time gigging around town, and is currently in the process of recording a follow-up to Soundtrack to the Summer locally.

Though some naysayers in town enjoy writing Greyfield off as another scheming pop-punk band, the truth of the matter is the guys of Greyfield are paying their dues on the way to what they hope will be success that eventually reaches outside the confines of Jacksonville. Not bad for a band that’s only a little over a year old.
