SEQUENCE 8:

RAPTURE OF THE HEIGHTS

With a dwindling hold on its place in this world, the Beast arises from the rubble thrown upon it.

"ELVOOR!" the Beast raged. "You have betrayed us Elvoor."

Elvoor faced his creation.

“I have betrayed no one Beast.  Everything has gone according to plan.  Exactly as I have planned it."

The Beast paused with a questioning look mutating its already rotting face.

"I am the first Zombie.  Elvoor is not my God given name.  I choose that for myself.

My true name is Lazerus.  A man risen back to life by the first messiah.

But that messiah did not grasp the far reaching consequences of his 'miracles', he was a child

who did not realize that when he reunited my soul with my cold and rotting remains

that only the fire of God itself could separate me again.

"For centuries I have lived on this rock, trapped in this stinking flesh, searching only for a way to die again.

In those seemingly endless years I manipulated mankind and their beliefs.  I corrupted them enough

that another messiah would be sent to save them.  But like the last one, they killed that one also.

That caused the rapture of the heights which lead to the catastrophic disappearances that opened

the way for war, hate and evil to spread across the world enough for me to call you to life."

"When we went back in time I knew that once you absorbed the soul of Innocence,

if I sent you back that I would one day be able to use it to destroy not only you but the world and myself with it.

To finally free myself from this rotting body."

"The Innocence is now the last messiah, and he is more powerful than you could ever wish to be.

He will destroy you, he will cleanse the world of all abominations... including me."

The Beast lashes out with all the vengeance and rage it could muster and impales Elvoor.

"We will destroy you ourselves!" it cried as it raised Elvoor up,

but it was too late to stop what had been set into motion...

"Innocence!" the Beast hissed

At that moment the smoldering skull of Innocence began to rattle.

and burn with a white fire...

the final rapture has begun...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

 Screeched the Beast.

"We are at our end."  mouthed the lips on Elvoor's disembodied head.

The Beast impales it ceremoniously where

Elvoor himself had placed his trophy, the skull of innocence. 

Rising above the tattered ground, the bare remnants of the once lush earth...

...it devourers the head of its nemesis.  But this still does not kill him.

He lives inside the gullet of the Beast.

"Now we will take back what is ours." said the Beast as it picked its teeth.

But it was far too late.  The energies set forth could not be contained again.

Innocence was reborn.

The Beast surged with rage.

It opened up the dimensional realm and retrieved its only son...

...the inheritor of evil...

...and the Beast's best weapon against the power of divine innocence reborn.
