AFTER 5

The former home to the legendary Club 5, one of the longest consecutively running night spots under the same name in Jacksonville, has been the subject of many questions ... "what are they doing with it now?" is the most common.  Since first time developer and former car sales guru Mike Shad bought the building, and forcibly closed the infamous venue in a high profile battle, the speculation has run wild on what is actually going to happen to the historic theatre.

MOVEMENT took a short tour into the building that once housed the fetish night  SEDUCTION once called a "staple of Jacksonville nightlife" as well as breaking club ground throughout the 90's being the first to bring the river city Foam night, Fight night, Pimp N Ho night, and the electronica music revolution.

The word we received was that the venue is being renovated to its original historic grander and may become an upscale restaurant or possibly, as everyone hopes, an entertainment venue once again. The renovations have revealed ornate molding and attributes of the original theatre we doubt any of the former club owners even knew were there.

Above is a photo standing where the bar used to be looking at the stage, notice the ornate designs over where the "birdcage" and temporary DJ booth once were...
