TWEAKER TAPPED FOR UPCOMING SKINNY PUPPY TOUR;
Debut tour for Tweaker, first Puppy tour in almost a decade

May 11th, 2004

(Los Angeles, CA) In what is shaping up to be one of the more dynamic North American tours of the summer, Skinny Puppy has handpicked Tweaker for its first tour in almost a decade.

Both artists are on the road supporting new albums. Tweaker just released 2 a.m. Wakeup Call (Waxploitation / iMUSIC), the highly anticipated follow-up to The Attraction To All Things Uncertain. On May 24th, Skinny Puppy will release The Greater Wrong of the Right, their first studio album since 1996.

Tweaker is the alter-ego project of Chris Vrenna, a Grammy award-winning artist and founding member of Nine Inch Nails and record producer/remixer/collaborator for a 'who's who' of artists including U2, Weezer, David Bowie, Smashing Pumpkins and Marilyn Manson amongst many others.

The tour begins June 11th in Portland, Oregon and will be a full circle of sorts for Tweaker. "Our first tour ever as NIN was opening for Skinny Puppy on their Vivisect Six tour," says Chris Vrenna. "Seeing that this will be Tweaker's first tour as well, it's a huge honor that Skinny Puppy has asked us to be its opener."

2 a.m wakeup call was produced and composed by Vrenna and collaborator Clint Walsh and features guests including Robert Smith (The Cure), David Sylvian, Will Oldham, Jennifer Charles (Elysian Fields), Hamilton Leithauser (The Walkmen), Nick Young (a.i.), Mellowdrone and Johnny Marr (The Smiths). The album has already received critical acclaim from a diverse group of publications including:

Alternative Press -- ".Emotionally resonant performances."

Entertainment Weekly --"Call it Eternal Darkness of the Spotted Mind."

Rolling Stone.com -- "Tweaker's disquieting lullabies are uneasy listening at its finest."

Time Out New York -- ".An excellently woozy collection of down-tempo industrial (no, really, it's not an oxymoron) shadow-chasers."

Wall Street Journal -- "A poignant, menacing piece of modern experimentation."

The Washington Post -- ".Commanding sonic textures, sultry, and trippy." (A-)

Tweaker's debut tour will feature Vrenna on drums and loops, Walsh on guitar and keyboards, Kevin Kipnis (Purr Machine) on treble bass and sound designer William Faith (Faith and the Muse) on standard bass. "I'm excited to finally get to play these songs live," says Walsh. "We worked long and hard on this record - and it's a record we're really proud of - so we can't wait to take it to the stage."

The PIXIES "WARM UP" CONCERT DATES SELL OUT
UK/European Tour Set for Summer

Eleven of the twelve PIXIES' North American reunion headline dates went on sale this past weekend, and all sold out, most within just moments of the box offices opening.  All tickets for the Calgary show went in eight minutes; Edmonton, Spokane, Eugene and Boise went clean in five minutes; Winnipeg's tickets were gone in three minutes, two Vancouver shows sold out in seven minutes.  Tickets for Victoria and Regina have also all been grabbed up; Saskatoon's 1600 tickets went in minutes, so that venue has been expanded to double attendance, making more tickets available.  The tour kicks off on Wednesday, April 14 in Winnipeg, Canada (dates below).

"The Pixies served as an influence for Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Radiohead and so many other superstars, so it's no surprise that their shows blew out," said Marc Geiger Sr VP, William Morris Agency and the band's booking agent.  "The band's legacy has grown from their peak when they broke up in 1993 to a new level, and will continue to grow."

Tickets for the twelfth Pixies' headline show, set for April 29 at Freedom Hall in Davis, CA, will go on sale next Monday, March 1 at 10AM; the Pixies will wrap up this series of dates on Saturday, May 1 when they co-headline (with Radiohead and Kraftwerk) the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, CA.

The Pixies then are off to Europe for a six week tour that will see them performing headline dates and at major festivals.  The 19,000 tickets for the band's four London headline shows, set for June 2-5 at Brixton Academy,  are completely sold out.  European dates are still being confirmed and will be announced shortly.

The Pixies - Frank Black/vocals, guitar; Joey Santiago/guitar; Kim Deal/bass; and David Lovering/drums - have been holed up in a Los Angeles rehearsal studio playing Pixies music together for the first time in eleven years.  All four agree that the "reunion" has, so far, been great.  According to Black, "We were all a little nervous when we first got together, but within maybe five minutes, everything felt completely comfortable, and it was like the last eleven years had never happened."  Bassist Kim Deal added, "I experienced what I call 'muscle memory' - we'd be playing a song and I didn't even have to think about what note came next - my fingers remembered what to play."

Confirmed dates for the PIXIES are as follows:

APRIL
14      Burton Cummings Theatre, Winnipeg, MB  CANADA
15      Doris Knight Ballroom, Regina, SK  CANADA
17      Prairieland, Saskatoon, SK  CANADA
18      Red's, Edmonton, AB  CANADA
19      MacEwan Hall, Calgary, AB  CANADA
21      Victoria Curling Club, Victoria, BC  CANADA
22-23 Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver, BC  CANADA
24      Big Easy, Spokane, WA
25      The Big Easy, Boise, ID

FRIDAY APRIL 23RD MIDNGIHT
DEAD ALIVE
The story begins as a zoo expedition is on the trail of  the legendary  "rat monkey", but for some reason the natives are a little reluctant to let the beast be taken. But why??  It is only cute, little, harmless monkey...right?? Well, not this monkey, whose deadly bite turns Lionel's mum into a walking corpse.
Seems Lionel (Timothy Balme) definitely suffer from an acute Oedipus complex and major abandonment issues here. He tries to hide his mum's condition from everyone, especially the girl of his dreams Paquita (Dina Penalver). Slowly but surely, dear mum begins to zombify anyone who crosses her path: a nurse, a priest, and a gang of thugs. There's even a zombie baby. What a cutie. Lionel tries everything to control these unwanted guests and he even has some success with horse tranquilizers, but not for long.
The finale is a laugh a minute gore-fest that features a horde of zombies and a lawnmower. Ash might have had his chainsaw, but Lionel's weapon of choice really mows them down. You can definitely see the influences of Romero and Raimi beautifully brought together into one.....Don't miss your chance to see this film in it's proper glory gracing the brand new screen, new seats for you butt's comfort and of course a beer to enjoy.

@THE PIT
April 27 8&10
REFLECTIONS OF EVIL
Yes, it’s true. The awesome prospect looms. This larger-than-life character, the stuff of legend, doth grace our humble hole with the FLORIDA premiere of his magnum opus, Reflections of Evil. This 2-hr obsessively excessive urban nightmare, with Packard himself starring as an unkempt, obese, sugar-addled watch-peddler swaddled in twisted knots of shirts and headphones, achieved cult-status after its mysterious appearance on thousands of Hollywood doorsteps. The hilariously over-the-top psychodrama details his tortuous navigation of LA streets and theme parks, our anti-hero trudging through a self-created purgatory of extreme hostility, humiliation, and failure.-OC

May 11 8&10
Again we will give the OPEN SCREEN NIGHT a try. The first show was so little publicized that I think this will be a great night. The evening will be monitored by a mallet wielding judge. If the film is too boring for the judge he/she will administer judgement by bashing the crude gong that was constructed by none other than Jacksonville's own Shana David. If you bring work admission is reduced to 3.00 and if you show with nothing it's the standard 5.00. So bring something, DAMNIT! Doesn't matter what the hell it is. It's an evening for you to expose our eyes to your work, oddity or the video tape of you and your friends celebrating the 2000 George W. Bush presidency that's lying around your home.

May 25th Tuesday 8 & 10 p.m.
JANDEK ON CORWOOD
"The longest-running, weirdest, loneliest enigma in popular music is a guy from Texas who calls himself Jandek." So begins a 1997 Boston Phoenix article by Douglas Wolk. From the bluesy, atonal music and haunting lyrics, to the artist's steadfast seclusion and sheer longevity, everything about this man intrigues. Twenty-five years, 34 albums, and not a single live show or public appearance. Even the simple detail of the man's real name is a mystery.
Jandek on Corwood is the 88-minute documentary that explores this man, his world and his music. Jandek released his first album, Ready for the House, in 1978 on his own record label, Corwood Industries (he is, of course, the only artist on this label). The release went relatively overlooked until a review by Phil Milstein appeared in Op magazine in 1980. Bolstered by that slight measure of notice, Jandek set about releasing at least one album per year over the next quarter century of his unique brand of cacophonous rock and suicide-note blues. Slowly, word of Jandek spread, primarily through college radio stations and obscure fanzines.
