Abstract Alchemy is the brainchild of local musician Craig Harvey. It could best be described as a combination of ambient electronics fused with an experimental sound that is continually evolving. It's influences range from early Tangerine Dream and Vangelis to more the more modern sounds of Orbital, FSOL, and Boards of Canada. "When I started the project, I was thinking mostly of dreamy, minimal sound structures." However, I couldn't seem to stray from the groove so to speak. I kept adding strange sounds and more interesting beats, that made it much more than strictly ambient space music. The final outcome was vastly different from my initial idea, but also much more satisfying musically."  However, the one thing that has remained constant is the theme of the music; a vision of mankind's future reaching out to touch the stars and beyond.  The overall sound tries to bridge the gap between beautiful textures and more obscure soundscapes. It is a journey that should please fans of several genres of electronic music.
