Azra is the new Dark Alternative project of Jacksonville based musician, singer and songwriter, Azra Medea, (formerly of the Gothic/Progressive duo Alucarda.) This band includes Robert J. Pollum, of S.R. i. fame, as well as guitarist Demon, who heads the project, Navaja. It was Max Michael’s, who first introduced Azra to Rob at the Factory. Later, Demon came onto the scene and the rest is history. After ten years of searching, Azra Medea has finally found the counterparts to bring her project to life! Combining Azra’s rare lyrical and uniquely powerful vocal talents with the unlikely elements of grunge metal, progressive rock, dark and moody, yet powerful sound scapes, electronic musical styling, along with a complete disregard for the rules of traditional song creation, Azra is unlike anything we have heard to date. In the traditional style of this extraordinary vocalist, Azra Medea's long awaited EP “Dante's Bride,” delivers a variety of songs that fall appropriately under the very eclectic umbrella of the Dark Alternative genre. Azra, the band is currently promoting their all new full length CD, entitled “Dante's Bride” We cannot think of a title more apt to welcome this long awaited artist back into the fold. It was on Wednesday, March 8, 1995 Live at the “gone but not forgotten” Club 5 that Azra Medea took the stage by storm in what was to become Alucarda’s most memorable performance. Today, Azra has come full circle, and is ready to share her music and her mystery with the world, once again!
