ENDORPHIN OUT NOW — ROUGH TRADE ON SATUDAY, MAY 9

“Pounding drum machines and filtered vocals not only speaking, but spelling out a beautiful, alternate world where Bowie and Eno’s Berlin collaborations never ceased.”
Under The Radar

New York, NY (May 8, 2015) – Dark synth technician André Obin released his third full-length album, Endorphin this week and this afternoon, THUMP premiered the exotic video for “Beautiful & Anxious“. The hypnotizing video “so gorgeous it hurts” features slow motion dance sequences shot in Barcelona during sunset and you can view the clip HERE.

Obin will celebrate his new album with a performance at ROUGH TRADE in BROOKLYN this SATURDAY, MAY 9 at 8PM with the wonderful Sarah Jaffe. André also has two hometown shows in Cambridge, MA opening for Andy Scott at Middlesex on May 10 and TT The Bears on May 31 with Pale Hands, Haunted Summer and The Wrong Shapes.

Last week, AllMusic premiered a full album stream of Endorphin saying, “With Endorphin, Massachusetts-based synth-pop artist André Obin broadens his dark, propulsive sound by discovering a new apex of energy and incorporating ambient elements.”

Much of the feel of Endorphin is experimental and moody with an ethereal sensuality. André combined his love of vintage synthesizers together with his passion for cult sci-fi films to give much of Endorphin the feel of a long lost cinema score. AO has always toed the line between electronic producer and indie songwriter and he shines on both ends of those spectrums throughout the album’s nine tracks.

Obin describes the latest offering as, “A synth-tinted soundtrack for traversing an endless landscape in a small craft.” Musically, the album explores the lines where, “man and machine coexist in eerie harmony, getting lit as the grid goes down.”

“Obin deftly provides a chilling flip-side to the euphoric crescendos valued by his peers, turning synth-pop spectacle into a numbing agent of light and sound.”
