EMBARKS ON SOLO JOURNEY AS 88 ULTRA
“WISH FOR MORE” VIDEO DIRECTED BY STEPHAN GRAY

88 Ultra is the new moniker for Kingston of Blue Sky Black Death, a west coast duo best known for founding the “cloud rap” sound. Directed by Stephan Gray in Santiago, Chile with animation by Gero Doll, in association with dreambear Productions, the video for “Wish For More” off the album Sirens was inspired by the song’s title, speaking to the idea that people always want more regardless of their socio-economic standing. Complex Magazine originally premiered the video.

Blue Sky Black Death has a career with releases spanning from 2006 and continuing well in to 2015. They have received critical acclaim from Pitchfork, Spin, Fader Magazine, Vice, Forbes Magazine, Wired, Prefix, XXL, LA Times, Complex, The Source, Stereogum, Passion Weiss, and countless others, as well as national headlining tours.

Striving to continue progress into unexpected directions, 88 Ultra’s solo work drawing from of years of experimentation, a realization of ideas which were only hinted at in previous efforts. The Witchtape & Sirens, 88 Ultra’s first two releases, draw from post-rock, shoegaze, prog-rock and electronic genres creating an elegant collage combining samples with live instrumentation, live vocalists, and collaborative production.

88 Ultra’s new album, Para Bellum, a collaboration with Seattle producer, No Merci, is due Summer 2015 on Ultra Glacial Records.
