Recording artist, remixer and film & television composer Cato got started tweaking modular synthesizers and early digital, analog-filtered synths, inspired by artists as diverse as Cabaret Voltaire, Peter Gabriel, Nico, Stravinsky and Schoenberg. Cato has written music for feature films including “Stone” (starring Robert De Niro) and “Smokin’ Aces”, and has tracks featured in television shows like “Dexter”.
As an increasingly important part of his musical output, Cato releases his own artist projects and is sought after by record labels and studios as a remixer of an eclectic mix of recording artists, among them “Karl Bartos”, “Robot Koch”, “London Grammar”, “Eivør” and “The Who”. Constantly in high demand for major studio and indie movie trailers and commercials, Cato’s work is featured in 100’s of movie trailer campaigns as diverse as “Selma”, “Zero Dark Thirty”, “John Wick”, “Guardians Of The Galaxy”, “Dracula Untold”, “The Dark Knight Rises” or “Star Trek 2”.
“The Remixes”
On the 3rd of April in 2015, the renowned trailer and film composer Cato, together with “Collapse Under The Empire”, the instrumental band from Hamburg, will release the EP “Collapse Under The Empire vs. Cato – The Remixes – “. In these, the menacing, analogue sound evolves to an epic range in its own cosmos beyond the mainstream.
