“MODERN WAR SONG” VIDEO PREMIERES AT BILLBOARD

FORMER PLACEBO DRUMMER RELEASES LOSE YOUR WAY ON JUNE 30 VIA ANCIENT B

New York, NY (June 17, 2015) – Love Amongst Ruin has unleashed a new track leading to the release of their sophomore album as Billboard debuts the video for “Modern War Song“. Fronted by former Placebo drummer Steve Hewitt, the band releases Lose Your Way on June 30 via Ancient B.

Modern War Song” is a battle-cry of questions from a soldier at war. “I became inspired by the contemporary feel of the original demo, which led me to think about modern situations and war was one of those situations,” explains Hewitt. “I decided to base it on the point of view o of a soldier at war, turning to the political figures and asking why this situation exists and asking ‘Why aren’t you here to stop a war without reason?!’ After recording the vocals I then fleshed out the track by writing and recording new drum and guitar parts to give it an edgier feel.”

Lose Your Way is an album from an artist over the hump; head high to the future and all engines gunning. Launching LAR had been an emancipating process for Steve, a mission to prove his musical worth not just to the legions of Placebo fans avidly waiting to see what he’d do next but also to himself. With its twists of New Order/Depeche Mode electronica, Can / Kasabian motorika, Cure atmospherics and hardcore Metallica riffs, Love Amongst Ruin has firmly positioned him as an alt-rock contender in his own right. AXS calls Lose Your Way, “The genuine article… an alt-rock record for a new generation of fans.”

The album is filled with tighter and more accomplished songs, largely free of the bitterness and bewilderment that had driven the debut. It’s an album that embraces finely wrought atmospheres and artfully coiled emotion and it’ll be no surprise to find The Cure’s Perry Bamonte on live bass duties come the tour.
