Catch Slightly Stoopid on the “Everything Is Awesome” tour this summer with Dirty Heads and The Expendables

Los Angeles, CA (June 30, 2015)Slightly Stoopid, the San Diego-based group known for its multi-instrumental cross-genre blend of rock, reggae, folk and blues with hip-hop, punk, and funk elements has released its eighth studio album today, Meanwhile…Back at the Lab (Stoopid Records). The next sonic evolution for Slightly Stoopid, Meanwhile…Back at the Lab ‘s title and album cover reference the band’s San Diego warehouse studio (The Lab at Stoopid Studios)-the band members’ home for their numerous creative and collaborative projects.   Slightly Stoopid is Miles Doughty (guitar, bass, vocals),  Kyle McDonald (guitar, bass, vocals), Ryan “Rymo” Moran (drums), Oguer “OG” Ocon (percussion), Daniel “Dela” Delacruz (saxophone), Paul Wolstencroft (keyboards),  Andy Geib (trumpet, trombone) and “unofficial 8 th member” Karl Denson of Greyboy Allstars (currently on the road playing with The Rolling Stones).

Meanwhile…Back at the Lab‘s debut single, “The Prophet,” was released to radio last week and has since been added to the playlists of stations across the nation including KROQ/LA, XTRA/San Diego, WBUZ/Nashville, KCXX/Riverside, KXTE/Las Vegas, KFRR/Fresno, KRZQ/Reno, KJEE/Santa Barbara, KPOI/Hawaii, WBTZ/Burlington VT, KVXX/Chico, WRMR/Wilmington NC, KNOB/Sonoma County, WTGZ/Auburn, WEQX/Albany, KRXF/Bend, KRZQ/Reno, and more. Additionally, in the week’s leading up to the album’s release, several publications ran exclusive debuts of album tracks – these premieres included Yahoo Music‘s “Hear It First” of “Rolling Stone,” Billboard magazine‘s debut of “One Bright Day (featuring Angela Hunte), and The Pier‘s premiere of  “this Version.”  Slightly Stoopid will soon unveil an exciting video for “The Prophet,” which features never-before-seen footage.

The band continues to explore a variety of styles on Meanwhile… Back at the Lab, with help from some of their friends and influences including: Dumpstaphunk’s Ian NevilleMarshall Goodman aka “Ras MG”Roger Rivas and Jesse Wagner of The Aggrolites; singer/songwriter Angela Hunte; BeardoLlama Beats; Jerry WondaPaulo Da Rosa; Courtney Adams; Ethan Tucker and Farnell Newton. The sessions for the albumbegan in late 2012, shortly following the band’s seventh studio release Top of the World. That album, the band’s most successful to date, entered the Billboard 200 at a career high No. 13 and also hit the top spot of the publication’s Heatseekers chart, plus the Independent Albums chart at No. 3, and Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts with a final position of No. 4.

Slightly Stoopid is set to kick off its “Everything Is Awesome” summer 2015 tour on July 8 and will hit 40+ cities before concluding on September 19. For this run Slightly Stoopid has enlisted Cali cohorts Dirty HeadsThe Expendables (select dates) and Stick Figure (select dates) to join them on the trek which features gigs at such premiere venues as The Greek Theatre in L.A., Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, JBL’s Pier 97 in NYC and The Santa Barbara Bowl. Slightly Stoopid will also perform at numerous festivals including Outside Lands, the LOCKN’ Festival, Riot Fest (Chicago) and KAABOO. Tickets for these shows and more are on sale now.
