“Serotonin-injected, indie-tropicalia…hypnotic and brilliantly balearic.”—Vice’s Noisey
“…old-school Vampire Weekend groove and adds synth shimmer up top. The vocals soar from reverb-soaked group-shouted proclamations to crisp falsetto…”—MTV
Acoustic EP, the latest recording from praised Australian band The Griswolds, is streaming in its entirety at Entertainment Weekly now: http://bit.ly/1xXfRTX. The EP features five acoustic versions of songs off their critically acclaimed debut album Be Impressive as well as covers of “Anna Sun” by Walk the Moon, who the band are now supporting on tour nationwide, and “Doses and Mimosas” by Cherub. Acoustic EP will be released April 13 viaWind-Up Records.
To celebrate, the band will perform on VH1’s “Big Morning Buzz Live” on the release date.
In addition to their current run with Walk the Moon, The Griswolds have confirmed a U.S. headline tour this June. The dates include stops at New York’s Bowery Ballroom and Los Angeles’ Troubadour as well as a performance at the Firefly Music Festival. Watch the live video from last year’s Australian summer tour here and see routing details below.
Furthermore, “If You Wanna Stay,” the latest single off Be Impressive, is impacting Alternative Radio, where it debuted at #18 on the SiriusXM’s Alt18. Listen to the track here:https://soundcloud.com/thegriswolds/if-you-wanna-stay-1. “If You Wanna Stay” is the follow up to the band’s top 15 debut single “Beware the Dog,” which has approximately six million worldwide streams, was featured as #4 on Billboard’s “Year in Music: The 10 Best Rock & Alternative Singles” of 2014,  #28 in the Triple J Hottest 100 list and #5 on the SiriusXM Alt Nation’s Alt 36 end of year countdown, featuring the best 36 songs of 2014.
The Griswolds was born at a Sydney house party where Whitehall challenged friend Daniel Duque-Perez (guitar/synth) to write a riff on the spot. Duque-Perez explained, “Chris thought that riff was really fun and interesting, and it turned into our first single, ‘Mississippi.’” After an EP and forays to the U.K. and U.S., the band—Whitehall, Duque-Perez, Tim John (bass) and Lachlan West (drums)—were itching to record a full-length and signed with American super-indie Wind-Up Records.
