DISMANTLED "STANDARD ISSUE LIMITED" $24 CAD / $20.75 USD WHAT IS THE STANDARD ISSUE? That's the question that comes up over and over when listening to this record. For an album that scored an average of 7.8 in the Zillo Soundcheck and was summarily crowned "Album of the Month" in April 2006, a title like "Standard Issue" can only be seen as a fantastic understatement. "Standard Issue" is in fact a concept album through and through. But those who think of concept albums as the self-indulgent musings of an artist bent on commercial suicide will be pleasant surprised: The new songs are more compact, more insistent, and leaner than most material for which Dismantled is known, with almost futurepoppy melodies gracing the classic Dismantled sound. As anyone who heard the "Breed To Death" EP already knows, "Standard Issue" brings the songs themselves into sharper focus than before, but the complexity and artistic sound collages are still present; they've just been focused and retrofitted. Every track is a work unto itself and the album in context forms a great whole, a grandiose motif constructed out of ten mosaiclike pieces. The common thread running through the album is the lyrics: observations, perspectives and interpretations offered in an often sarcastic tone. The listener is shown that which goes unappreciated; by holding the musical mirror up to our faces, Dismantled force us to confront the question of why popular music is so often instantly that - popular. He criticizes the arrogance, stupidity, and unoriginality of the pseudo-elitist gothic-industrial scene, using well-known Future Pop structures to reference the corresponding artists. The title "Standard Issue" is very much an understatement - this album is in fact a "Very Special Issue". Accordingly, the album will also see release in a box edition, containing a 5-track bonus disc, in a strictly limited edition of 2,000 copies. Released on Dependent and available April 24th, 2006.

DALEK "STREETS ALL AMPED" $14 CAD / $12.25 USD NOW SHIPPING !! Dalek offer with Streets All Amped a new record of their original mixture of massive noise, heavy beats, intelligent vocals and detailed turntablism. Never short of talent, this act has now approached its sound from a new angle, placing the vocals more in the background than ever before since their Necro Negro Nekros album, and adding more details to their colossal wall of sound. Streets All Amped is a new display of virtuosity in an awe-inspiring discography, a record of sheer brilliance. Dalek is without a doubt one of the most remarked and remarkable bands to have emerged in the recent years. With three albums (two of which on Mike Patton's label Ipecac), a reputation for relentless touring and an unforgettable live show, this American duo has not only made a name for itself worldwide, but single-handedly built a whole new sound, picking the best of many genres and avoiding being reduced to any category. Hip-hop at its core, Dalek is also a massive juggernaut of noise and head-banging rhythms. Mixing intelligent lyrics with extremely heavy rhythms, intense beats and carefully chosen samples, Dalek have received the praise of the press worldwide, gone on tour with Fantomas, The Melvins, Isis, Meat Beat Manifesto or The Bug and played more festivals than one would think possible. And lets not forget their collaborations with Faust, Kid606, DJ Spooky and 2nd Gen and Techno Animal, to cite only a few. With Streets All Amped, Dalek offers yet a new face of their art. Following the noise-driven Absence album (Ipecac), Dalek demonstrate again their open-mindedness, and come back to the roots of their Negro Necro Nekros debut. The vocals have won their prominence back, and the instrumentation has become more intricate, resulting in four fast paced, intense and detailed tracks. Ad Noiseam is proud to present Dalek's Streets All Amped.

BITCRUSH "IN DISTANCE" $19 CAD / $16.50 USD "In Distance," Bitcrush's latest offering and first on n5MD, finds Ex-Gridlock beat-smith Mike Cadoo pushing n5MD further into a world where two disparate yet emotional elements, human and electronic, are merged into one. Recorded over a one year span, In Distance is "very personal," by the artist's admission. Cadoo has laid himself bare in an introspective ride where shimmering shoe-gaze-centric guitars, broken electronics, dual bass work, live drums, and Mike's now trademark "the one left behind" vocal style meld together into long aural road-trips ending at dusk in the middle of nowhere. A trip you will be more than happy to take considering who is driving. Vast and heartfelt; engaging yet adrift, In Distance has as much in common with his debut "Enarc" (Component) and the "Shimmer & Fade" EP (Enpeg) as it does with the more recent output of Mogwai, Album Leaf or even Fourtet. In Distance leads us there, now how do we get home… Released on n5MD and available May 15th, 2006.

UNTERART "NOISE & GRACE" $23 CAD / $20 USD Is there way to fuse the confusion and technological distortion of the new Millennium and the melancholy romanticism that shaped the sound of the Eighties? UnterArt face this central question of their artistic endeavours with a dark and apocalyptic approach. The basic principle that shapes the group´s work is the combination of the very different pref-erences that its members adhere to. Thomas Stein is responsible for the flowing, melodic lines, while Grigory Feil, very much influenced by the impressions of urban life in Hamburg, adds the rhythmic- and the noise-elements. UnterArt stand for large scale productions and the excessive use of the newest technology for sound-manipulation and –creation. Minimalism is their declared enemy. Only through the merging of the different tracks into a classic song structure can their songs develop their characteristic depth and emotional level … a balance of noise and grace that the group seeks to unveil as their trademark sound. Founded in early 2004 by Thomas Stein and Grigory Feil, the tracks "Damn my Soul" and "Kill Your Heart" and a remix by Andy LaPlegua were already released in the same year on the bonus disc included with the Compilation "Industrial for the Masses Vol. 2". The track "Ugly" on "Machineries of Joy Vol. 3" followed soon thereafter and "Just You Wait" was released in mid 2005 on "Awake the Machines Vol. 5". The band had its debut live perform-ance in August 2005 supporting Mexican legend Dulce Liquido. Shortly after that, Chris Harms joined UnterArt, effectively adding his vocal spectrum to the concept of the group: to create a balance between noise and grace. Released on Out Of Line and available May 31st, 2006. http://www.stormingthebase.com/details.asp?ProdID=3836

TO AVOID "VOYAGE INTO THE PAST" $20 CAD / $17.25 USD Dark Electro trio To Avoid deliver their searing debut album for the Cop International label. Instead of walking the beaten paths of too many electro-acts, To Avoid fuse new sounds with the best ingredients of 'classic' electro / EBM: a style originally produced by the electronic idols such as Front Line Assembly, YelworC and Leaether Strip...Music that recalls the best of the past while remaining firmly contemporary - "Voyage Into The Pat" is a musical feast and a must for every electro fan. DANIELLE DAX "BAD MISS M" $28 CAD / $24.25 USD NOW SHIPPING !! The first ever DVD to feature Britain's queen of Psychedelia, Danielle Dax. A performer whose enigmatic and experimental work reflected the strong influence of Biblical mysticism and Middle Eastern musical textures, Danielle Dax was born in Southend, England. She made her musical debut in 1979 as the keyboardist in the seven-piece Amy Turtle and the Crossroads; and then went on to front the Lemon Kittens. Upon the Lemon Kittens's 1982 split, Dax mounted a solo career. She debuted a year later with Pop- Eyes, a true solo effort for which she wrote and performed every song alone, even handling mixing and production duties and distributing the record through her own Awesome label. While her heavy makeup and colossal hair aligned her with the thriving "Batcave" Goth scene, she steadfastly avoided easy pigeonholing, even making the leap into film with appearance's in Neil Jordan's adult fable The Company of Wolves. Dax returned to music in 1984 with the Jesus Egg That Wept EP, and went on to recruit a live band, emerging as a significant concert draw; a series of singles including 1985's "Yummer Yummer Man," 1986's "Where the Flies Are," 1988's "Cat-House" and 1989's "White Knuckle Ride" - each slightly more commercial than the last - also established her as a force on the independent charts, and after the success of 1987's "Inky Bloaters" LP, she signed to Sire. "Bad Miss M" captures a full show Danielle played in London at the height of her mid-1980's solo success. Amongst the tracks featured are UK Independent Chart Top Ten hit "Yummer Yummer Man". INDIAN LARRY Timothy White
INDIAN LARRY is a dimensional and collectible art photography book on the life of this legendary motorcycle-artist by icon-making photographer Timothy White, featuring recollections by Timothy White, Paul Cox, Matthew Barney and Billy Lane. An intimate friend and riding companion of Indian Larry’s, White documented Indian Larry for 16 years. White not only captures Indian Larry’s vast talent and uniqueness, but also his humor and sensitivity in this photographical biography. White’s extensive private collection of fine art portraits, documentary photographs, and images of Indian Larry’s extraordinary motorcycle creations, making this the most exciting personal record of the man and his art. White’s INDIAN LARRY, published by Merrell Publishers, is a luxurious new book for motorcycle enthusiasts, collectors of high-end photography and art books and anyone interested in pop culture and iconic figures.
Indian Larry is a major photographic tribute by White of the noted bike builder, stuntman and innovator in the world of custom motorcycles. Included in the book are recollections by White, celebrated builders Paul Cox and Billy Lane, and artist Matthew Barney. Spectacularly produced with gold and purple foil artwork on the cover, beautiful endpapers and stunning reproductions, this large-scale book is a collectible art object in its own right, designed in the spirit of Indian Larry’s remarkable art and life.
“Indian” Larry Desmedt (1949-2004) became interested in motorcycles at an early age, and was a fan of customizer Von Dutch. He later moved from his native East Coast to California to apprentice under legendary hot rod builder and pop artist Ed “Big Daddy” Roth. Larry left his tumultuous early life, mired in theft, alcohol and drug abuse, and focused on bike building, eventually founding the Indian Larry custom motorcycle shop in New York City in 1991. He quickly won renown and multiple awards in the motorcycle world for his highly collectible chrome sculptures that combined ingenious metalwork with inventive engineering. An accomplished stuntman and actor, he was also widely known for his distinguished appearance. One of his famous trademarks was a tattoo in his neck, just below his chin, reading “In God We Trust – Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord – No Fear,” the middle two lines printed in reverse so that he could read them when looking in a mirror. Indian Larry died performing a motorcycle stunt on August 28, 2004. By that time Indian Larry had already become an American motorcycle legend and an international hero, known for his wild antics and his amazing bikes, and equally known for his gentleness and generosity.

“Hello Young Lovers”, Sparks 20th Album This Week on In The Red Records Early Reviews Are In/ Look Out for a Los Angeles Date Soon
Spin : “...these glam-rock auteurs up the theater-major quotient, from the “Bohemian Rhapsody” boast of “Dick Around” to the winking-metaphor, country-rock anthem “Can I Invade Your Country?,” delivering their best punch lines over and over again...”
LA Times : “`Hello Young Lovers’ ramps everything up with witty, even more densely packed compositions that are more pop arias than songs.”
The Fader : “Underneath the expansive, multi-part compositions are what have become Spark’s trademarks: pop smarts, lyrics that search for drama in the mundane, and a penchant for the theatrical.”
Arthur: “...you need this, just to know that pop music, pop lyrics, pop personae could be so much more...MORE.”
On their incomparable new album, Sparks protest predictability, obliterate the ordinary and demand utmost respect. With moments of sheer beauty, frenzy, dissonance, harmony, pure genius…it rocks!!
It is cinematic and bold, lyrically liberal. It may not win a Grammy…rather an Academy Award. It’s music for smart people. Never, Never, has there been an auditory assault of such magnitude presented in the realm of pop music.
When Sparks’ last album Lil’ Beethoven hit the streets critics lauded and applauded, fans smiled smugly with overdue vindication and fellow musicians wept when faced with the reality that, once again, Sparks had raised the bar by which all other albums should be judged.
Now the Angeleno brothers Ron and Russell Mael present Hello Young Lovers, their 20th album. To achieve such enormity and expansiveness Ron and Russell Mael worked in a limitless vacuum for the best part of 18 months. The only inspiration taken from any current music was the provocation to go as far as possible in the opposite direction. When writing and recording Lil Beethoven Sparks broke the rules, but in creating Hello Young Lovers the rule book has been thrown away.
The resulting album is an extraordinary masterpiece
Once again Ron and Russell are joined by Tammy Glover (drums) and Dean Menta (guitar) with guest musicians Jim Wilson (guitar) and Steve McDonald (bass).

FUSE GETS ANIMATED WITH “EMPIRE SQUARE”
New Edgy Animated Series Co-Created by BLUR Drummer Dave Rowntree Premieres Tuesday, April 18 at 10:30pm (ET)
New York, NY (March 30, 2006) – fuse, the nation’s only viewer influenced, music television network is pleased to announce the premiere date of EMPIRE SQUARE, the network’s convention-shattering cartoon series which has been dubbed by the UK press as the “British South Park.” The six, half-hour episodes, created exclusively for fuse, will debut on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at 10:30 PM as part of fuse’s new titillating “fuseday tuesday” programming block.
The series, which focuses on three foul-mouthed stars – Rabbit, Hooks and the Tourette’s-suffering, wanna-be-rockstar Richie, takes place in the fictional location of Empire Square. With a taste for bizarre “get rich quick” schemes and ever-elusive music superstardom, this trio of lovably anti-social, wholly-demented animated characters will bring their biting, social commentary straight into America’s living rooms. The premiere episode finds protagonist Richie and sidekick Rabbit on the quest for cyber-love online and ending up with Richie getting involved with a mail-order bride from overseas.
The series was co-created by Dave Rowntree, drummer for mega-selling British superstars BLUR, and music industry insiders Ant Cauchi and Lloyd Salmons. The pixilated, retro animation-style is reminiscent of Sega Consoles of the 1980s and combines bizarre story lines with biting social satire.
Show: "Empire Square" Premiere: April 18, 2006 at 10:30pm ET / 7:30pm PT Air Dates: Tuesdays Series Length: 6 episodes Show Length: 30 min Channel: DirecTV 339 / EchoStar 158; cable subscribers check local listings

Unearth have unveiled the title of their forthcoming sophomore release for Metal Blade records. It is their third career album entitled;
"III: In The Eyes Of Fire"
‘"III-In the Eyes of Fire" is our angriest, darkest, fastest and heaviest record to date. The title is a reflection of a couple different things for us. For starters it puts us in the place of our current worldly events. Last record we wrote about things brewing all around us in politics, environmental issues and war, but this record deals with the effects of those very things and the consequences we are all dealing with right now and will continue to deal with until changes are made. We are in our nations most critical point since the 60's and more importantly devastation looms in the near future if we continue to make mistake after mistake with unjust wars and environmental disregard. The title also represents the personal struggles we all face day to day and our constant battles to overcome adversity. We cannot fucking wait to show people what we have in store with this record.'
Unearth: 3/28/06 Studio Report #1 Tune in as UNEARTH records their sophomore Metal Blade Records release. You'll get a "fly on the wall" perspective of Unearth's day to day routine in the recording studio with legendary producer extraordinaire Terry Date; the highs, the lows, and all the Ken Susi derived shenanigans you can stand. You may even get to hear some of new record months before its release (or not).

BLUES LEGEND TAJ MAHAL ON TOUR THIS SPRING WITH THE TAJ MAHAL TRIO.
Describe legendary musician Taj Mahal in a single word or phrase? Impossible.
You could call him a singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, ethnomusicologist, two-time Grammy-winner, world-class musical collaborator, musicians' advocate, world traveler, fisherman, or cigar aficionado. These titles are all accurate, yet none convey the warmth, humor, and soulfulness of Taj and his music.
Look for Taj on these dates to tour with The Taj Mahal Trio - Taj on guitar, piano, and banjo, Bill Rich on bass and Kester Smith on drums. These musicians have been playing together on and off for more than 30 years. Together, they draw on a long, shared history of Taj's music.
"The Trio allows the music between voice and guitar to happen with the smallest amount of accompaniment - bass and drums," says Taj. "That leaves a lot of space to be filled. The guitar is not submerged but right up front in the music. It's a challenging place to play."
Current tour dates include: April 14 Queen Elizabeth Theater Vancouver BC April 15 McPherson Playhouse Victoria BC April 17 Jack Singer Auditorium Calgary Alberta April 18 Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium Edmonton Alberta April 20 Burton Cummings Theatre Winnipeg Manitoba April 22 Fox Theater Redwood City CA April 25 UCSB Campbell Hall Santa Barbara CA April 27 Royce Hall Los Angeles CA April 28 House of Blues San Diego CA April 29 Scottsdale Center for the Arts Scottsdale AZ April 30 The Fox Theatre Tucson AZ May 01 Lensic Performing Arts Center Santa Fe NM May 03 Community Center at Fort Lewis College Durango CO May 05 Tulsa Blues Festival Tulsa OK May 07 Tampa Bay Blues Festival St. Petersburg FL May 23-28 Blue Note New York NY June 02 The Auditorium Eureka Springs AR
For more information, visit www.tajblues.com.
Taj has been playing his own distinctive brand of music -- variously described as Afro-Caribbean blues, folk-world-blues, hula blues, folk-funk, and a host of other hyphenations -- for more than 40 years. Caribbean, Hawaiian, African, Latin, and Cuban sounds and rhythms mix with folk, jazz, zydeco, gospel, rock, pop, soul, and R&B, all layered on top of a solid country blues foundation.
What ties it all together is Taj's abiding interest in musical discovery, particularly in tracing many American musical forms back to their roots in Africa and Europe. Following his passion, Taj has spent time in the Caribbean, West Africa, Hawaii, Europe, the South Pacific, Australia, South America, and all over the continental U.S. His music reflects his global perspective, incorporating sounds from everywhere he's lived and traveled.
A self-taught musician, Taj plays more than 20 instruments, including the National Steel and Dobro guitars. His remarkable voice ranges from gruff and gravelly to smooth and sultry.

EVER WE FALL is playing The Imperial on Friday, April 28
Ever We Fall hails from Portland, Oregon and the band's full-length debut release, We Are but Human, came out last month on Hopeless Records. Full of mood, attitude and energy, the four-piece’s sound is all about pop hooks, catchy melodies and plenty of guitars. On We Are but Human you’ll hear punk meets indie rock meets pop, resulting in a cool, dance-friendly, pretentious-free record armed with lyrics that run much deeper than your average Punk-Pop band. Having toured with the likes of Say Anything, Circa Survive, Sleeper Set Sail, and Kaddisfly, a live Ever We Fall show if full of energy, emotion, half grins and all too much sarcasm. Along the lines of Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy, Ever We Fall is blazing its own trail with fiery, fuzzy guitars and catchy, inspiring melodies.
