STREET DRUM CORPS
OPENS FOR MATISYAHU TOUR DATES
And last on my update iist is Street Drum Corps. I’ve been working with them on and off for a couple of years now and I will be helping them with press for their upcoming September dates with Matisyahu. I saw them play with The Used at Hammerstein in NYC and they ROCKED. Here are the details…
Street Drum Corps has been hand picked by MATISYAHU to open for his September US tour dates. Known for their high-energy percussion shows which Kevin Lyman (founder of the Vans Warped Tour) calls a "punk rock Stomp," Street Drum Corps bring an unparalleled dynamic element to the evening’s event.
Bobby Alt (S.T.U.N., GENTS), Adam Alt (Circus Minor), and Frank Zummo (theStart) formed Street Drum Corps in Los Angeles during 2004. They use instruments such as hand drums, acoustic drum kits, buckets, kitchenware, recycled aluminum garbage cans, barrels and marching band equipment. Fans were mesmerized this summer watching Street Drum Corps on the Vans Warped Tour (2nd year as guests), SXSW, Coachella, and Taste of Chaos tour earlier in 2006. They also performed on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Fuse, Love Monkey (CBS/VH1), and Inked (A&E).
Street Drum Corps released their much-anticipated, self-titled debut album February 21st, 2006 through WARCON Enterprises. DJ Lethal (Limp Bizkit, formerly of House of Pain) produced the CD that features eight songs plus a free behind-the-scenes DVD with over 48 minutes of live concert and backstage footage, pull out poster and artwork by Alex Pardee. Streaming audio can be heard at http://www.streetdrumcorps.com/music06.htm
Honorary members drop in to perform in the live sets including Adrian Young of "No Doubt", Brooks Wackerman "Bad Religion", Bert McCracken "The Used", Max Weinberg "Bruce Springsteen / Conan O'Brien" and John Sawicki of "STOMP".

CURSIVE
HAPPY HOLLOW OUT AUGUST 22
U.S. TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
Cursive will be hitting the road again this fall for a full national tour in support of the forthcoming full length, Happy Hollow out on Saddle Creek August 22nd.
Happy Hollow is an expansion of Cursive's trademark discordant swell: dissonant yet distinctively melodic guitar sounds and founder Tim Kasher's ever-cathartic yowl now mesh and clash with piano, accordion, and other various instrumentation arranged by the band and/or producer Mike Mogis - as well as a diverse group of horn parts (ranging from trumpet to trombone to saxophone to tuba) arranged by longtime band friend Nate Wolcott (Bright Eyes, Head of Femur).
With hints of gospel and blues interspersed with occasional almost groove-y passages, Happy Hollow raises the bar yet again as the members of Cursive revitalize and reinterpret the band’s unique sound, evolving while retaining the distinctive musical identity Alternative Press says has "never sounded better (5 out of 5)." Lyrically Happy Hollow is a stunning song cycle vividly chronicling the trials and failings of thoroughly authentic characters, moving Blender to hail Kasher as "one of rock’s great storytellers" and award the record a 4-Star review.Cursive Tour Dates:

NEW FOUND GLORY CELEBRATES LATEST ALBUM COMING HOME BY COMING TO FUSE
BAND CONFIRMED TO PERFORM ON 7TH AVENUE DROP AUGUST 17TH
Tune In To fuse On September 19 At 9pm ET
New York, NY … (August 14, 2006) fuse, the nations only viewer-influenced, music television network, is once again bringing newfound musical glory to our stage; this time, most literally! New Found Glory, a dynamic pop-punk band famous for their energetic live shows, is dropping their newest album, Coming Home on fuses 7th Avenue Drop on August 17. The five-piece punk-pop ensemble comprised of vocalist Jordan Pundik, guitarists Chad Gilbert and Steve Klein, bassist Ian Grushka, and drummer Cyrus Bolooki, has had a lead role in the pop-punk/hardcore music scene since 1997. Evident by the throngs of fans packing venues for their renowned live shows, the group has increasingly become a force to be reckoned with in the US and UK rock scene. The groups obvious talent for belting out rock, coupled with their relentless enthusiastic performances, allows them to sing and tour with illustrious artists such as Blink-182, and repeatedly headline the legendary Warped Tour.
New Found Glorys first EP, Its All About The Girls was released by Fiddler Records in 1997. With that, the band quickly gained a fan base awestruck by their matchless pop-punk/melodic hardcore style. Their first full-length release, a self-titled album New Found Glory, became a sensation as the group boldly claimed spots atop the Heatseeker Chart, Billboard 200 and the US Modern Rock Chart.
Most recently, New Found Glory will release their fifth full-length album, Coming Home in September. The albums first single impacting radio now is Its Not Your Fault. Tracking the triumphs of past albums, it seems New Found Glory can rest assure that after the album hits the public, the band will be coming home to yet another successful release.

Hometapes signs Pattern Is Movement and Slaraffenland; announces new releases from
Scott Solter/Pattern Is Movement and Feathers

Hometapes to release Canonic: Scott Solter plays Pattern Is Movement on October 10th and Feathers' Synchromy on October 17th

Boulder, CO, July 28th—Hometapes, the now Boulder-based record and art label that last year brought us critically-acclaimed releases from Paul Duncan and The Caribbean, has announced that they have signed Pattern Is Movement and Slaraffenland. Pattern Is Movement is a three-piece act from Philadelphia that skillfully manages to marry avant rhythms with tasty pop hooks and often soulful crooning. Creating a "wild brand of math rock that you don’t need a degree to understand," the gents in Pattern Is Movement are sticklers for detail who won’t allow themselves to lose sight of the fact that music is art to be enjoyed….not a lesson in theory to be endured. Slaraffenland is a five-piece schizo-jazz-rock monster from Copenhagen known for its staggering live shows.

Canonic: Scott Solter Plays Pattern Is Movement
In 2005, Pattern Is Movement entered into what would become a long-term kinship with Scott Solter, who recorded the band’s last album, Stowaway, at John Vanderslice’s San Francisco studios, Tiny Telephone. The band released the album to much praise, but Solter wasn’t completely satisfied. When he moved across the country to North Carolina in early ’06, he brought along the tapes from the Stowaway sessions and began "re-Soltering" the songs with grease, razor, and tape in hand. Breathing new life into the art of the remix, Scott Solter emerged from the studio with his entrancing take on Stowaway, entitled Canonic: Scott Solter Plays Pattern Is Movement.

Download: Scott Solter Plays Pattern Is Movement—"Blanched and Threshed Beats" MP3 (a remix of "Maple")
http://www.patternismovement.com/content/remix/mp3/Maple%20(remix).mp3

It is important to mention that this remix project was done in the true dub style of cutting up tape with hand using all of the original tracks. No new instruments or sounds were recorded for this release. It is a reciprocal take on the stellar Stowaway that stands on its own. The folks at Hometapes will release Pattern Is Movement’s next full-length in 2007 but were so taken by Solter’s reinterpretation of past songs, that they decided to give fans something a little sooner. The label will release Canonic: Scott Solter Plays Pattern Is Movement on October 10th and follow it up with a week later with an October 17th release of Synchromy, the new EP from Miami-based Feathers.

Pattern Is Movement will be touring throughout the fall in support of Canonic. Tour dates are listed below.

Feathers’ Synchromy
The second installment in the band’s EP trilogy, Synchromy (following last year’s Absolute Noon EP) proves that the tropics have more to offer than croquetas and 98% humidity. Delving into the more psychedelic rounded-corners of pop music, Feathers have crafted a fine collection of songs that comes off like a melding of CAN, Martin Denny, and High Llamas. The band stretches the limits of organic instrumentation while incorporating themes of magic, quack medicine, paradise, the moon, the Bible, and the idea of taking real drugs.

Download: Feathers--"Skara Brain" MP3 (from Synchromy)
http://home-tapes.com/mp3/skara.mp3

Despite the band’s affinity for the very "un-scene" scene of Miami, Feathers periodically makes trips to Chicago, where they record at SOMA with John McEntire and a number of area musicians. The members of Feathers are not the types to rest on their laurels and their songs reflect it. They could have released one EP with a series of pretty pop songs and people would’ve loved them for it….instead, they chose to release three EPs full of songs that destroy the listener’s idea of what instrumental pop music can be. In short, Feathers is a band that continually pushes itself towards greatness and Synchromy (combined with Absolute Noon) proves that such determination has paid off.

Slaraffenland
Slaraffenland hails from Copenhagen, Denmark and features both Swedes and Danes in its five person roster. Hometapes signed this Scandinavian chimera after discovering them on the internet. The band is equally informed by Glenn Branca, Sonic Youth, and the Brotzmann’s. Slaraffenland is spending this entire month in the studio recording the new album and are hopefully coming to the US for the CMJ Music Marathon and other shows this Fall.

The Granda Entertainment Newsletter Formula Redux Keeps Pulling in "Friends" on Myspace Against The Odds.
According to "Associated Content", The People's Media Company Newsletter; Univesal Music/Angel Eyes Music Group's new EBM (Electronic Body Music) band, Formula Redux was noted as being one of the top bands on Myspace.com constantly pulling in "friends".
The Article reads - ..."Many thought Myspace's top 8 feature was a waste of time but the developers proved that they knew what they were doing, as usual. Playing upon our competetive natures, they set about creating thousands of mini-contests where, suddenly, teenager vied against teenager, and band against band, in hopes of making the Top 8 of anyone and everyone. Why? Again, more exposure. Your picture is suddenly emblazoned on a screen in testimony that so-and-so thought that you (and these 7 other people) were SUPER COOL!!! Check them out!! Bands like Formula Redux of Florida, or Ireland's 7even Words continue to pull in friends, hand over fist, when, normally, its a tooth and nail fight to get exposure for new and upcomming musicians...

6 MONTHS IN THE LIFE OF TOMMIE SUNSHINE
For the past 6 months, Tommie Sunshine has been flying around the world,
utilizing his DJ and Production skills as a platform from which to yell,
"Wake The Hell Up and Do Something!". He is shining in every club crevice
and under every raver rock, stomping upon the planet with a universal
message asking party people to take action, ANY action, to bring to light the
social boundaries and technology barricades that seem to be purely about
TheirSpace, rather then the world surrounding them.
Defying teenagers and hipsters has kept Tommie busy, but not too busy to
finish a few projects that will make the end of 2006 great for Mr. Sunshine.
His first EVER full length compilation was just announced this week and will be
releasing via Ultra Records on February 6, 2007. A single disc with Tommie’s
remixes of who’s who in the Scene Pop world, along with some of his original
productions. Track Listing and North American Tour Dates TBA.
Snakes On A Plane! This fantastic storm of a film with Samuel L. Jackson
boasts something incredible, and it isn’t just the movie itself. The sound track,
released yesterday, is being co-released by Decaydance, the label run by Fall
Out Boy's bassist Pete Wentz, with most of the bands involved belonging to
the same musical universe, including several with a connection to former FOB
label Fueled by Ramen. Acts included are Cobra Starship, The Academy Is...,
Cee-Lo Green, Gym Class Heroes and more. With 3 tracks on the sound track,
there are 2 tracks Tommie remixed exclusively for this project; Fall Out Boy -
"Of All The Gin Joints In All the World", The Hush Sound - "Wine Red", and the
third? His lauded remix of Panic! at the Disco - "The Only Difference Between
Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage".

NEMO ANNOUNCES 2006 FESTIVAL AND CONFERENCE DETAILS

FESTIVAL AND CONFERENCE DATES CONFIRMED
INITIAL PERFORMANCE LINE-UP ANNOUNCED
BADGES AND WRISTBANDS AVAILABLE
The NEMO Music Festival and Conference has announced confirmed artists for
the showcases at this year’s event. The NEMO Festival will run from
September 28th through September 30th, 2006.

With a history of dedication to identifying and supporting emerging artists,
the annual NEMO Music festival is placing extra emphasis on getting
musicians to the next level. For the last ten years, NEMO has presented
audiences with a first look and listen at up and coming artists in the
musically rich and diverse region of New England. In comparison to other
American music festivals, NEMO reigns as the most intimate large-scale
conference in which artists and industry hopefuls have ample opportunity for
networking and performing in attempt to bring them closer to their goals for
success. The main priority of the event is to provide as many tools and
resources to help develop the best decisions for breaking through in the
music industry.
Since 1996, NEMO has also been lending a hand in the development of budding
musicians. The organizations largest participation in the New England arts
community is the NEMO Scholarship Fund. Drawing proceeds from the Boston
Music Awards, the fund donates to musically gifted children in financial

SLAYER'S "CHRIST ILLUSION" IS BAND'S HIGHEST-EVER BILLBOARD CHART DEBUT ENTERING AT #5 Los Angeles, CA (August 16, 2006) -- The City of Fullerton, CA abruptly removed all 17 of Slayer's promotional bus benches. Twenty years of equipment and stage production was stolen out of their warehouse. Their 2006 U.S. Tour due to kick off 6.6.06 had to be postponed due to band member Tom Araya's emergency surgery. But none of these roadblocks prevented Slayer's brand new album, "Christ Illusion" (American Recordings/WBR), from making the highest chart debut of the band's career, coming in at #5 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart.
In addition, "Christ Illusion" - executive produced by Rick Rubin and produced by Josh Abraham - is a Top 10 album internationally in its first week, debuting at #2 in Germany, #2 in Finland, #8 in Holland, #9 in Australia, and #6 in Austria.
With more than 62,000 copies sold in the U.S. in its first week, "Christ Illusion" marks the long-awaited return of the legendary punk/thrash/metal band. "Christ Illusion" is Slayer's first new studio album in five years, and the first recorded by the original line-up - Araya/bass, vocals; Kerry King/guitars; Jeff Hanneman/guitars, and Dave Lombardo/drums - in more than 15 years. The #5 debut is only the second time in Slayer's 25-year-plus history that they've debuted in Billboard's Top 10 - 1994's "Divine Intervention" came in at #8.
On "Christ Illusion," the unabashedly controversial Slayer takes on Government and God, looking at the World Trade Center disaster from the terrorists' point of view, and repeatedly committing lyrical blasphemy, which caused the the Washington Post to note "...Slayer consistently beats Christianity with an ugly stick." One major daily reviewer hypothesized, "If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he undoubtedly would be listening to Slayer...beneath this aggressive veneer, is a social, political and interpersonal message that would put proud smiles on our nation's founders."
The New York Times wrote simply that "[Christ Illusion] is the most concentrated, focused Slayer record in 20 years."

The Capitol Years,
Championing the Philly Scene Worldwide!Set To Release "Dance Away the Terror"
Out September 19th 2006 / Park the Van Records
Look Out for Fall 2006 Tour
CD Release in-store 9/12 @ AKA Music (Free show)
Afternoon show with THE SPINTO BAND 9/16 in Wilmington, DE (Doors 2pm, Mojo 13)
CD Release show 9/16 @ Johnny Brendas
Non-stop Philly music scene hyper and Capitol Years song-guy Shai Halperin illuminates:
"One of the new LP's highlights, 'Mirage People', was written and recorded in one afternoon after we were
alerted to an anonymous online letter dismissing the band. I took the paragraph this mysterious figure had
posted and used just those words as the lyrics for the song which was posted on the same local blog,
Philebrity, the next day. People really took to it in a strange, remarkable, and surprising way. It was a
bit of a local hit and we somehow made something really positive happen after some random diss."
"A few months ago i recorded and posted a song online,''Tale of the City', which included 35 local band
names in a the midst of some stream of consciousness, surreal lyrics. Bands such as Spinto Band,
Mazarin, Dr. Dog, were all in there. It's something I thought about doing for a while for no good reason
except to see if i could. People in town seemed to get a kick out of it and i guess it's just another way to
express some weird impulse to shout to the world about all the good and great bands here."
That song was also featured on the compilation of the same title - 'Tale of the City' - curated by Shai
himself...featuring 17 or so Philly bands and released in the US and internationally by renowned
Spanish label, Houston Party Records.
Pitchfork Media – "The Capitol Years taunt you from your chair via head-nodding blues
punch-ups and brawling rock ' n' roll."
The Capitol Years make a triumphant return with their highly anticipated forthcoming release Dance Away
the Terror in September 2006. Due out on Park the Van Records (home to Dr Dog, The Teeth and National
Eye) the Philadelphia five-some are set to release their most realized effort and strongest work of the
band's already notable career to date.
The self-produced "Dance Away the Terror" stays true to the band's beginnings, blending the intimacy of
a homemade recording with the high flying harmonizing sound of a full blown rock and roll band. Known to
be genre-hopping pop experimentalists, the band here presents eleven brand new, wide-ranging songs such
as the upbeat "Long Time", the tempo shifting, psychedelic "Revolutions", as well as the pitch bending
beauty, "It's Only Loveless." Harkening back to the days of actual albums , The Capitol Years gang elegantly
reprise "Dance Away The Terror" with two different interpretations of the title track, a pensive piano driven
opener and a Motown meets Velvet Underground thumper that morphs into a shimmering cacophony.
Shai Halperin delivers lush, melodic, and ethereal songs which pay tribute to the bands' influences while
crafting a sound and sincerity that the group can now call their own. An obsession with harmony, hooks
and details have resulted in a diverse composition of tracks, an album, which will stand the test of taste
and time.
Look for a tour in Fall 2006 as the band sets out to support Dance Away the Terror.
Spin Magazine -"This Philly quartet grinds out retro rock with a propulsive, fuzzy jangle and
plush harmonies." Tracklisting:
1. Dance Away The Terror
2. Revolutions
3. Long Time
4. Mirage People
5. Chandelier
6.You Can Stay There
7. It's Only Loveless
8. As Terror Dances Your Way

Breaking News!
Pennsylvania's soon-to-be folk hero LEWIS & CLARKE have just announced the release of a vinyl-only live 12" to coincide w/ upcoming East Coast Tour Dates w/ The Black Swans!
"A gifted newcomer" -MAGNET
"A whisper of an album, lovely without being precious, moody without being beleaguering." - No Depression
Following the acclaimed release of Bare Bones and Branches, Lou Rogai emerges from the mountains of Pennsylvania with a new delivery: a 12" vinyl-only limited edition release of the now infamous and much sought-after radio performance, Live on WPRB. This offering bridges the gap between 2005's Bare Bones and Branches and the upcoming 2007 release of Blasts of Holy Birth.
Originally broadcast in February 2006 on Jon Solomon's Keeping Score At Home, this live recording captures the beauty and magic of a transitional metamorphosis. The loose, relaxed versions of past songs blend with fresh workings of new material, setting the ambience (including chimes, Indian drones, Rogai's baby son, all part of the performance), and making for a unique and satisfying listening experience. Players include Rogai, Dave Ulrich, Alejandro Bjorg (Man Man) and The Expeditionary Grace Singers. "The vinyl is simply about preservation of a special moment in time, keeping it sacred." Now we can enjoy the complete tactile experience on vinyl, with artwork drawn by J. Patrick Walsh III, handscreened by the musicians, and delivered on Rogai's own La Société Expéditionnaire.
Meanwhile, Blasts of Holy Birth is complete and ready for release in February 2007 by La Société Expéditionnaire and various licensors abroad. An album of beauty; linear and serpentine, it is a testament to a cyclical journey through eastern meditations, inherent folk stylings, and a tribute to all birth, metaphor and device. Recorded by Dan McKinney (of The Original Sins) and featuring the contributions of Eve Miller (Rachel's) and Alejandro Bjorg (Man Man), Blasts of Holy Birth resonates authenticity, beauty, and otherworldly experience, bringing forth a back-to-the-earth sound with a most elegant touch.
In between albums, Rogai is touring solo, referring to Lewis & Clarke as a project that is " a ship crafted for many, but navigable by one."

STOP THE WAR COALITION
BENEFIT CONCERT

featuring Brian Eno, Imogen Heap, Mick Jones and more!
Available on DVD
October 31, 2006
Through MVD

MVD Visual and Secret Records are pleased to announce the home viewing release of Stop the War Coalition Benefit Concert for North American distribution on DVD.

The Benefit Concert for the Stop the War Coalition (StWC) was filmed & recorded at The Astoria in London on November 27th, 2005. It features performances by The Rachid Taha Band with Brian Eno, Nitin Sawhney, Imogen Heap, and special guest Mick Jones. It's presented here in a widescreen format and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound.

Musician, producer, artist, and thinker Brian Eno has been creating music since the late 60s. He has made multiple contributions to albums by rock legends like U2, David Bowie, or James. His music has appeared in films such as Trainspotting, Velvet Goldmine, and Heat as well as television programs, commercials, and more. Here Eno & Rachid Taha perform 16 ambient hits including, "Mamachi", "Nokta", "H'asbu-hum", "Meftuh", "Ida", "Garah", and more!

Imogen Heap’s unique sound has been enchanting the rock and pop audience since the late 90s when she moved from being a full-time classical instrumentalist and realized that alternative pop-rock, Euro-pop and electronica would be her main focus. Here she performs a stirring version of the song "The Moment I Said It."

There is also a stunning performance by Nitin Sawhney & Brian Eno: "Soundbites", "Dark Oratorio", & "Prophesy"; who seamlessly blend many genres of music into a new contemporary sound.

The StWC is a UK anti-war group set up shortly after the attacks on the World Trade Center. The "war" in the Coalition's title refers to the various wars that are claimed to be part of the war on terrorism. The Coalition has been the most prominent group in Britain campaigning against the war in Afghanistan and the invasion of Iraq.

The two fathers decide to instigate a mock feud amongst themselves in order to help the boy and girl fall in love. They figure that this feud will give them the excuse to say no to the relationship, which of course will simply encourage the children's love even more. The fathers go as far as to hire El Gallo to stage a mock abduction of Luisa, in which Matt can become a hero and save her. After this act, Luisa and Matt fall deeply in love. Soon though, the children realize their parents staged the feud and their love fades away. After both experience a little life experience on their own and are hurt by it, they reunite once again with much less drama.

BRAZIL Preach Their Philosophy to the Masses
Gearing Up for National Tour with Youinseries, As Tall As Lions
Readying Sophomore Album for Release on Oct. 3rd

Muncie, IN - Anxiously anticipating the release of their sophomore album The Philosophy of Velocity on Immortal Records on October 3rd, Indiana rockers BRAZIL are gearing up for a national tour with Youinseries and As Tall As Lions, beginning on Oct. 16th at Philadelphia’s The Balcony and winding out to Denver’s Marquis on Sept. 1st (tour dates below). More tours will be announced shortly for the rest of 2006 and into 2007.

The Philosophy of Velocity is a thrilling, thick album that leaves you breathless and gripping your chest. Setting the stage with anticipation, the piano cum typewriter intro "Le Fee Verte" sets the stage of the descent of an author/madman into the far reaches of his psyche. Bleeding immediately into the explosive "Crime (and the Antique Solution)," this album launches full-force into organized and controlled chaos. The melodically epic "Candles (Cast Long Shadows)" soars on a tail wind of piano chords and searing guitars. The gauziness of the final track, "Strange Days" is a fitting cathartic closer that leaves you buckled over, yet ready for a repeat, ending right where it started... with the silent but mad clicking of a typewriter.
The media has lauded Brazil on their musical innovation and passion. Pull quotes abound, like "Brazil kicks ass!" (The Synthesis), "...beyond great... hands-down one of the best albums of the year" (Tastes Like Chicken), and "uncompelled style and energy, sounding refreshing and genuine amidst a somewhat boring scene" (EmotionalPunk). Even Alternative Press got in on the action giving them a 5 out of 5, calling them "mad geniuses."
With press firmly behind them and anticipating the release of this next record, Brazil is ready to work hard to build up their momentum exponentially. Proving that this album is not just a myriad of Newtonian mathematics and Ptolemic interpretations, it seems like they’re off to a great start.

SEE YOU AT THE FINISH LINE…..
STARS OF TRACK AND FIELD
ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES
WIND-UP RECORDS HAS SIGNED PORTLAND TRIO
STARS OF TRACK AND FIELD
New York --- Wind-up Records continues to diversify the artist roster with the
signing of Portland, Oregon-based trio Stars of Track and Field. The band
traverses sonic territory, from digital to analog and back, oscillating between
minimalism and grandiose walls of keyboard and guitar. Influences that range
as far D'Angelo and Aphex Twin to The Beatles and Built to Spill can be felt
through this amalgamation of sound and feeling that subtlety leaves an
indelible stamp on all who come in contact with the aural soundscape.
Stars of Track and Field's debut ep, You Came Here for Sunset Last Year, was
released in June 2005 and became an instant staple on radio in the Pacific
Northwest. Throughout Portland and Seattle, and across the region, the band
sold several thousand copies of the recording via an old-school DIY approach.
Live shows, local independent retail stores, and enthusiastic praise in Best of
2005 critic lists and readers polls fueled this groundswell. SXSW Executive
Producer Matt Dentler's blog listed Stars of Track and Field as the #4 "Band to
Watch for 2006," and soon thereafter they signed a deal with Southern
California-based indie label SideCho Records. They returned to the studio in
early 2006 with the team of Tony Lash (Dandy Warhols, Elliot Smith) and
Jeff Saltzman (Stephen Malkmus), who had produced the highly successful ep,
and recorded their first full-length offering Centuries Before Love and War.
The album displays the band's signature dichotomous formula, successfully
mining elements from across rock's history while simultaneously embracing the
digital technology of the future. This recording caught the attention of Wind-up
Records, and the band has segued from SideCho to the larger independent.
Centuries Before Love and War will be digitally released August 22nd, 2006.
The physical release date will be announced shortly, following time on the road
with Jeremy Enigk (formerly of Sunny Day Real Estate and current frontman of
The Fire Theft) and the release of a second as of yet untitled ep.
Stars of Track and Field singer/guitarist Keven Calaba shared, "We're thrilled
at this opportunity to get our music out there on a national level. With the help
of Wind-up, we plan on keeping both the literal and figurative wheels of the
van rolling..."

So Many Dynamos
So Many Dynamos, the Millinois (that’s Missouri and Illinois)-based indie-rock powerhouses—who last year toured (semi-successfully) the lower 48 contiguous states—are returning with their most wild and accomplished record to date, Flashlights, which will see release on Seattle’s Skrocki Records. This a band brimming with energy and talent, recalling the glory days of The Dismemberment Plan and contemporaries We Versus the Shark while firmly forging their own path through instrumental experimentation. Able to create pop gems with an angular twist, So Many Dynamos is not afraid to stop on a dime and send your ears into a totally different, totally dilectable direction. One of this year's very best albums.

STIMULUS
A KING'S COUNTY TALE
SUGARWATER RECORDINGS
RELEASED: OCTOBER 10 TH , 2006
You may think you've never heard of Brooklyn born MC and DJ, Stimulus, but you're probably wrong. His latest effort sees him taking a break from the well known ‘funk-hop', New York based "The Real Live Show", a collective of two lyricists (Stimulus & Dionysos) together with a seven piece jazz/funk ensemble. TRLS was formed in 2001; known for their charismatic energy and sounds live on stage, captured audiences worldwide, and for a young Stimulus, "it was a beautiful thing for me to be a part of a large musical and artistic community; it was crazy for me to see people like Damon Dash at my shows."
2006 brings us Stimulus as you've never seen him before. Introducing his two years in the making, debut artist album, "A Kings County Tale", on Sugarwater Recordings/Hitnodic Entertainment, exclusively distributed through Fontana/Universal. His latest effort builds a remarkably complete musical picture, encompassing Stimulus' myriad of influences, self described as "an expression and exploration of diverse experiences". The album features special guest appearances from Steele (Smiff-N-Wessun, The Boot Camp Clique), Spagga (Proyecto Uno), Maya Azucena, Natty Bless, Kae Hoc and Cali Bud. It's amazing that with Stimulus in such high demand, whether he is an MC, DJ, musician, performer, writer or a businessman, he still finds time to release yet another album.

With extensive worldwide touring, a new summer residency at Ibiza's Club Amnesia (where he will be introducing his 5 year long radio show, Global DJ Broadcast) Markus still finds time to release a spanking brand new album later this year.

LLOYD COLE to release ‘Antidepressant’ October 10th - via One Little Indian US
As the title suggests, Lloyd Cole’s new full length delivers 11 songs that delicately mix sadness with a revitalized happiness. A cult fave for 20 years, Lloyd Cole’s lyrical gifts are always on full display, with the New York Times observing a recent Cole live set, "playing songs by Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen among his own, he tactfully demonstrated that his work could stand alongside theirs…" Lloyd Cole fans both new and old will agree that ‘Antidepressant" serves as a proud addition to his discography.
Cole’s previous album, 2003’s acclaimed 'Music In A Foreign Language' was the result of the singer honing an acoustic set around the world, written over the course of 5 years and revealing Cole as a consummate folk guitarist and a sharp observer of the onset of mid-life. Cole’s seminal group The Commotions reunited, briefly, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of ‘Rattlesnakes’, and then it was back to Cole’s New England hideaway to start work on a new album.

"I sat down and realized that all the musical ideas I had were considerably jauntier than I wished they were – it kind of annoyed me," laughs Cole. "But you can’t decide how creativity hits you and a lot of the ideas were, ironically, the kind of songs that maybe a band like the Commotions would have done."

Working largely alone - Cole plays drums, guitars and keyboards on ‘Antidepressant’ - he planned to follow Tom Waits’ modus operandi, setting aside four months to write and record the album. "My four months ended up being 18! It was exciting and draining at the same time, but half way through I knew I had the sound that I wanted, an amalgam of electronic and acoustic sounds," he says, adding, "looking back, perhaps I bit off more than I could chew on my own… It was difficult being producer and musician. I certainly won’t do that again!"

Despite the arduous recording process, ‘Antidepressant’ contains some of Cole’s best work to date. The gorgeous, string-driven ‘NYC Sunshine’ evoking streets full of "junkies and millionaires", the gentle acoustic thrum of ‘How Wrong Can You Be’, the stock market palare of ‘The Young Idealists’ and the lyrically poignant ‘Woman In A Bar’, "…no longer driven to distraction, not even by Scarlett Johansson."

Former Commotion, Neil Clark, provides slide guitar along with contributions from Kevin O’Rourke, Hurcules’ Peter Baldwin, Jill Sobule, Dave Derby and the string arrangements of King Radio’s Dave Trenholm.

The album’s title is another double-edged sword, as Lloyd explains. "Well an antidepressant is a pill that makes you feel better, but the existence of an antidepressant signifies the existence of depression."

Cole sums up the themes of this new record by observing, "the songs I’m writing these days tend to be about mid-life," he concludes. "I’ve always felt the music that I do works in the same way as blues or country music, in that you generally sing about things not going that well. It helps people get over things like that in their lives and somehow find enjoyment or closure on some issues. I get that listening to Tindersticks or Tom Waits and I know that’s the area of music that I’m in. It’s unlikely that I’ll be writing for the Ronettes anytime soon."

Having played South Africa for the first time recently - where Cole survived being bitten on his strumming arm by a lion ("well it only needs to hold a pick" ) - Lloyd will be touring the US to promote "Antidepressant" in November and December.

DAUGHTERS "Hell Songs" (Hydra Head)
View the latest updates and listen to "Fiery" here:
http://hellsongsfromdaughters.com

"Galaxies heavier than its predecessor" - CMJ
"The band manages to express musically in a short timespan what many bands of this genre don't in their entire career." - Lambgoat
Providence, RI’s DAUGHTERS, are back w/ the follow-up to their "Canada Songs" album (Robotic Empire, 2003) w/ "Hell Songs," an entirely new approach to music in general. Giving new meaning to the word brutal, DAUGHTERS have expanded their minds and abilities, introducing unholy and outrageous new elements to their sound, leaving behind whatever could be considered typical within their genre, and fitting in perfectly to the monstrous Hydra Head roster. At times sounding like label-mates Oxbow or cult-legends Arab-on-Radar (on steroids), "Hell Songs" hits like a Mac Truck, pummeling its listener in a way that is, to-date, unmatched.
"What the fuck you guys? The vocals: What happened to them?"
- A fan posting on Daughters’ MySpace page
After staking out a reasonably comfortable bus-stop bench near the same wretched intersection where Lightning Bolt, the Locust, Oxbow and the Dillinger Escape Plan work their filthy corners, Providence, Rhode Island’s Daughters slowly unzipped and whipped out 2003’s Canada Songs (Robotic Empire). The art-school kids shit themselves; Some Girls, Melt Banana and Doomriders went on tour with them, and the dudes over at Three One G asked them to cover a Birthday Party song ("Marry Me (Lie! Lie!)") for a tribute compilation (Release the Bats). Last but not least, the pimps at Hydra Head came calling for sloppy seconds. They brought a bottle of Cristal, a pile of limited-edition colored vinyl and some Astroglide; pants were charmed down to at least knee-level, and nine months later, a misshapen fetus called Hell Songs was delivered by Andrew Schneider (Scissorfight, Blue Man Group, Cave In, Keelhaul).
Within seconds, it began sucking greedily at the teat of mass dissemination. It was an ugly little bastard, with an encephalitic head, and it looked suspiciously like the mailman. It shit its pants a lot, just like those goddamn art school kids, and it would not fucking shut up. So, like the socially responsible parents they are, Daughters sent it out into the world to become a twitchy, axe murderer/chronic masturbator type with a veritable laundry list of physical and mental deficiencies. Nobody hires fidgety miscreants like this anymore (not even Catholic schools), so Hell Songs returned to that wretched intersection, looking vaguely familiar to the locals, only sweatier and more viciously deranged.
Sometimes that bus stop becomes too much to withstand; sometimes he/she drinks too much and puts the lotion in the basket. Sometimes he/she forgets to take his/her medication. But that’s okay; there are some things modern medicine will never cure. He/she is looking at you right now, as a matter of fact, and he/she thinks youíre kind of cute.DAUGHTERS US TOURDATES!

"Hour of the Wolf uses instruments as weapons." -Ted Williams, Marine Corps Combat Pilot and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer*
"Hour of the Wolf shits rock n' roll and wipes their asses with active hand grenades." - Barb Bush, former first lady of the United States of America and best selling author**
YES YES YES! This is the Hour Of The Wolf, a time for punk rock to show it’s balls again! Hour Of The Wolf is the Arizona based hardcore-punk outfit who brings to mind some of the best the scene has EVER seen. With comparisons to AFI, The Misfits, and Black Flag abound, Hour Of The Wolf play fast and unyielding and shows no mercy, they are here to beat their listener into submission and leave them wanting more. Featuring ex-members of the hugely popular and now defunct powerhouse, Life in Pictures, HOTW is picking up where the intensity left off, continuing the carnage and energy that made their former band enormously popular in the hardcore community, landing them on bills with the likes of Converge, Cave In, As I Lay Dying, Every Time I Die, and more.
After a summer tour alongside punk legends Against All Authority, Hour Of The Wolf are ready to bring their power front and center to their fans nation-wide.

THE 101 "Numbers" (Limekiln)
Recorded by Ian Love and mastered by Nathan James, Numbers shows off the amazing songwriting skills of Eric Richter and crew with the production tastefully bigger than anything they've done before. As tough as it is to imagine, The 101 have never sounded so good.
Eric Richter continues to define The 101’s infectiously catchy sound, combining the finely honed atmospheric touch of his previous band Antarctica, with the emotive drive of his Christie Front Drive years, to create a well-crafted rock album with no end to its emotional depth or sense of tasteful simplicity.

WIRES ON FIRE s/t (Buddyhead)
Wires On Fire, a collective of four young men from Los Angeles, have created a name for themselves with their balls-out live set, full of blood, sweat, and saliva.
While the chaotic punk rock passion and energy from their acclaimed Homewrecker EP remains, the band has taken steps in a different direction on their new Self-Titled full-length debut. Wires On Fire have created an innovative style with hopes to inspire a new breed of rock and roll for this generation of colorless music.
Each track on the 12-song monster reveals a different side of Wires On Fire, with influences from The Birthday Party, Black Sabbath, Neil Young, The Damned and the The Beach Boys peeking through. The addition of singer/guitarist Evan Weiss’ younger (as in fresh-out-of-high-school) brother,
