Introducing the Magical & Mighty Love Duo, Drug Rug
Their S/T Debut Out Sept 11th on Black & Greene Records
(Jeremy Black of Apollo Sunshine). Fall Tour TBA

The Boston Phoenix - "One of our favorite new local bands, the retro-rocking girlfriend-boyfriend-
led DRUG RUG. Drug Rug are currently at work on their debut album for Apollo Sunshine
drummer Jeremy Black’s Black and Greene label. We’re clammy with anticipation."

This September, Tommy Allen & Sarah Cronin debut their love for one another in the form of their outstanding
S/T record, Drug Rug, on Black & Greene Records and we are thrilled to be on board. The dynamic love duo, named
Drug Rug, hail from Boston and have written & recorded the most heartbreaking debut since June & Johnny got
together (Yes, We do love them that much). “The Sound Alone is all I need to get by” and “You don’t have worry,
You don’t have panic no more (from Tiny People)” are just two simple lines that will have you back to toe-tapping
and foot stomping & will re-cement your faith in love, poetry and classic country pop songs... Its almost like the
clash of two separate generations have joined, and Joanna Newsom & Keith Richards had recently met in some
distant far off land. Enough Said? Well if you need more, Drug Rug is coming your way...The Record was recorded
at Narrow Lab in Allston, MA by Carter Tanton (Tulsa) and mixed and produced by Carter Tanton, Julian Cassanetti
(Lot 6) and Drug Rug. Additional players on the LP are the Dead Trees & Jesse Gallagher from Apollo Sunshine. We
are one happy family now!

Thomas Allen and Sarah Cronin met in 2006 while working at the Middle East Club in Cambridge, Ma. After
trading secret demos of their own songs, Tommy persuaded Sarah to combine forces. They spent their first date
drinking whiskey in bed and playing each other songs on an old guitar. They've been inseparable ever since. Several
months later, they christened themselves "Drug Rug," a name which has made strangers laugh and parents cry.
Drug Rug began as an acoustic duo in the vein of the Everly Brothers and The Carter Family. Over the course of
three or four shows Drug Rug evolved into a rock band with a revolving cast of friends and family. Their early rock
and roll sound can be attributed to such influences as The Velvet Underground, The Byrds, and most importantly,
the Paul and Linda McCartney record, "RAM". The songs are also inspired by the storytelling style of early folk
musicians, comic books, campgrounds, funny hats, and the illustrations of Garth Williams. In the month of June,
2007 after consulting a psychic and a lawyer they signed to Black and Greene Records and are now slated to
release their first record in the fall. Sarah likes to be covered in dirt and Tommy wears the same shirt for four days.
They used to be drug free, but now they aren't so sure. They believe in the imminent end of the world and will
destroy each other with love before the apocalypse.

Track List

1. For The Rest of Your Life
2. Day I Die
3. Wintertime
4. Lie Lie Lie
5. Cut The Meat

SILVERCHAIR ANNOUNCES NORTH AMERICAN DATES OF 'YOUNG MODERN' WORLD TOUR

Australian trio Silverchair has announced their first full North American tour since 1999. The dates will be in support of the band's new album Young Modern which will street on July 24 in the US and Canada on Eleven: a music company through Warner Music Group's Independent Label Group.

In spite of the band's long leave of absence they recently sold out some New York, Los Angeles and Toronto shows within minutes. This phenomenal response drew a full page feature in the LA Times Calendar section and lead the LA Weekly to declare that "Silverchair have burrowed into a 'career band niche' ... thriving on quality songwriting and authentic delivery.”

Since exploding to prominence in the mid-90's Silverchair has morphed into a much more melodic and idiosyncratic band than they were as teenagers. They are currently riding the crest of a wave in Australia with Young Modern becoming the fastest selling and most critically acclaimed album of their career to date. It was certified double platinum in their homeland after just one month.

Young Modern sees Silverchair pushing their collective envelope by combining an eclectic mix of pop sensibilities and melodic indie rock with some epic orchestral flourished by legendary Beach Boys collaborator Van Dyke Parks.

North American Tour Dates:

Saturday, July 14th - Los Angeles, CA - The Wiltern (on sale June 9th)

Sunday, August 5th - Minneapolis, MN - First Avenue (on sale June 16th)

In addition to their own headline tour Silverchair will also make a mainstage appearance at the 30,000-capacity Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago on August 4th alongside Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

Quite frankly, the facts speak for themselves.

Young Modern is Silverchair's fifth consecutive #1 Album in Australia. They've had more number 1 albums in their homeland than any other Aussie band in history (Midnight Oil had four, INXS and AC/DC had three). Rolling Stone magazine has called their new album a "towering triumph" and the lead track Straight Lines spent four weeks at #1 making it Silverchair's biggest hit since their breakthrough single Tomorrow back in 1995.

SILVERSTEIN BREAKS OUT WITH

“IF YOU COULD SEE INTO MY SOUL”

AT RADIO JUNE 28 AND A LIMITED EDITION 7-INCH SINGLE AVAILABLE NOW VIA PRE-ORDER

DEBUT SINGLE FROM ‘ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES’ OUT JULY 3
ON VICTORY RECORDS

BAND ON TOUR ALL SUMMER WITH RISE AGAINST

As SILVERSTEIN gear up for the release of their new album ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES July 3 on Victory Records, the Canadian band who are known for their potent and compelling rock have announced “If You Could See Into My Soul” as the record’s first single. It will officially arrive at radio June 28 although influential radio stations throughout America have been playing it (*see list below).

Because SILVERSTEIN is supported by their massive fan-base, it took only 96 hours for “If You Could See Into My Soul” to top 100,000 listens on myspace.com with no proper feature through the site of any kind. SILVERSTEIN--who is SHANE TOLD (vocals), NEIL BOSHART (guitar), JOSH BRADFORD (guitar), BILL HAMILTON (bass) and PAUL KOEHLER (drums)—chose “If I Could See Into Your Soul” as the lead because, as Told states, “it shows our progression as artists and at the same time shows our fans we still have the aggression we always have had. It’s a song we felt great about from the moment we first played it."

As a treat for SILVERSTEIN fans, Victory Records is now offering purchasers of ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl single of “If You Could See Into My Soul.” The B-side of the single will feature an etching of the CD’s compelling cover art created by Martin Wittfooth, whose work also graces SILVERSTEIN’s previous releases, Discovering The Waterfront (2005) and When Broken Is Easily Fixed (2003). This one-time-only collectible is available exclusively by pre-ordering Arrivals & Departures from one of over 200 independent record stores and webstores no later than the release of the album on July 3. For a complete list of participating stores, please go to: www.victoryrecords.com/silverinch. Only 3,500 of these singles will be produced.

It’s been a long, but thrilling trip for this quintet, who came together in the Toronto suburb of Burlington, Ontario at the turn of the millennium. After putting out two of their own EPs, the band signed to Victory Records and released When Broken Is Easily Fixed, which raised eyebrows throughout North America as sales climbed well past 200,000. SILVERSTEIN’s follow-up Discovering The Waterfront did considerably better. Between the two releases, SILVERSTEIN’s record sales now total beyond a half-million. The band fueled that momentum by performing on a slew of major tours, from A Taste of Chaos and Warped in the States to the Give It A Name and Download festivals in England topped off with their first headlining trek of America—the sold-out Never Shave Again tour in 2006.

NEW ACTS CONFIRMED FOR ICELAND AIRWAVES 2007!

CHROMEO, ANNUALS, BONDE DO ROLE AND KHONNOR JOIN IN ON THE FUN

CONFIRMED ARTIST LINEUP:
!!! (chk chk chk) (US), Annuals (US), Best Fwends (US), Bloc Party (UK), Bonde do Role (BR), Boys in a Band (FO), Chromeo (CA), of Montreal (US), Ra Ra Riot (US), Buck 65 (CA), Jenny Wilson (SE), AMPOP, Benni Hemm Hemm, Benny Crespo's Gang, Dikta, Esja, FM Belfast, Gavin Portland, GusGus, Hjaltalín, Jeff Who?, Mammút, Motion Boys, múm, Retro Stefson, Reykjavik!, Seabear, Shadow Parade, Sign, Sprengjuhöllin, Steed Lord, Ultra Mega Technobandi Stefán, Eberg, Kira Kira, Lay Low, Mugison. My Summer as a Salvation Soldier, Ólöf Arnalds, Pétur Ben, DJ Kalli , Ewok. Leópold, Margeir aka Jack Schidt, Terrordisco

Several acts are thus far confirmed to play the ninth annual Iceland Airwaves festival, set to take place during the week of October 19-21. US indie-darlings Annuals, Canadian dance duo Chromeo and lone swordsman Khonnor are among those added to the ever-growing list of bands set to appear, which, as previously announced, includes Bloc Party, !!!, of Montréal, Gusgus and múm. A total of 170 acts will perform at the increasingly infamous festival.

Canadian duo Chromeo will surely prove an asset for Airwaves attendees seeking to flex their dancing muscles. Already riding high on their début LP, 'She's in Control', Chromeo are currently touring in support of their yet-to-be released second long-player, which is currently blowing out headphones of illegal downloaders world-wide.

Annuals, who are currently touring on the strength of their début, Be He Me, and regularly blow away live audiences, as was aptly displayed at this year's SXSW festival. Expect synthesizers, a plethora of percussive instruments and lots of drunken hollering. Other exciting acts among those now announced include Khonnor and Brazilian dance-machines Bonde do Role.

Of course, the main attraction of Iceland Airwaves each year will always be the exciting local artist, as Iceland boasts of one of the most vibrant music scenes around. Sugarcubes front man Einar Örn will make an appearance with the fabled Ghostigital, who've been making waves in the US since the release of their Ipecac-début, In Cod We Trust, as will celebrated psych-rock collective Singapore Sling, the enigmatic Mr. Silla and Airwaves-mainstays Leaves. These acts are all, of course, in addition to previously announced legends such as múm, Mugison and Gusgus.

A five-day festival, Iceland Airwaves has been steadily growing since its inception and is now widely considered to be among the highlights of the annual music-festival calendar - with hundreds of journalists and music industry people flying in every year from Europe, North America and rest of the world. As per usual, this year's bash looks to surpass the previous ones in terms of sheer intensity, with an approximated 170 acts competing for the festival-goers attention.

Reykjavík's proximity to a plethora of geysers, waterfalls and other natural phenomena that are unlike anything found elsewhere in the world helps earn the festival some of its merit, although it's main attraction has always been the music. Making a point of always showcasing a healthy mixture of local and international talent, the festival often features bands on the brink of it-dom well before they gain international notoriety (cases in point: The Rapture, TV on the Radio, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah). Iceland Airwaves' location - in the numerous and infamous bars and clubs of 101 - adds a final touch of charm to the world's northernmost music festival.

For full listing of the 50 acts now confirmed for Iceland Airwavaves 2007 please visit www.icelandairwaves.com

Iceland Airwaves is produced and promoted by Mr Destiny, in collaboration with Icelandair and the Reykjavik City Council.

NOISE POP AND ANOTHER PLANET ENTERTAINMENT PRESENT FIRST TREASURE ISLAND MUSIC FESTIVAL SEPT 15-16

Modest Mouse and Thievery Corporation to Headline Bay Area Music Festival. Spoon, Gotan Project, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Built To Spill, M.I.A., Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and others set to perform. Tickets on sale 10am June 24th via Ticketmaster

San Francisco, CA--- Noise Pop and Another Planet Entertainment are thrilled to announce the inaugural Treasure Island Music Festival, a two-day celebration that will feature a stellar line up of internationally renowned artists. Saturday, September 15th focuses on electronic and dance oriented acts with an eclectic bill including Thievery Corporation, DJ Shadow & Cut Chemist, Gotan Project, M.I.A., Ghostland Observatory and Zion I. Sunday September 16th features the best and brightest in indie rock with Modest Mouse, Spoon, Built To Spill, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, M. Ward and Earlimart. In addition to the above acts, there will be a second stage featuring up and coming and local bands.

Conceived by the creators of the Noise Pop Festival, one of the nation’s longest running independent music festivals, and Another Planet Entertainment, independent promoter based in Berkeley, CA, the Treasure Island Music Festival not only boasts an amazing line-up but will take place in a very unique setting - smack dab in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. It is the first music-based event of this scale and scope to be held on the man-made island that was originally built to house the 1939 World’s Fair.

“Another Planet Entertainment is very excited to partner with Noise Pop in bringing this unique festival to a one-a-of-a-kind location. The Treasure Island Music Festival promises a diverse aesthetic each day in one of the most picturesque spots in the Bay Area,” states Allen Scott, Vice President of Another Planet Entertainment.

“San Francisco does not currently have a diverse, indie-leaning outdoor event in or near the city,” adds Noise Pop co-owner Jordan Kurland, “Our goal with Treasure Island is to establish a festival that mirrors what we've been able to accomplish with Noise Pop in the last 15 years: to present important, independently minded artists in a tasteful manner while providing a great experience for both the artists and fans.”

The two-day festival will also include plenty of interactive activities, a vending village featuring local artists and designers, as well as a diverse array of food and beverages. In the same manner that the Bay Area has long been a leader in environmental initiatives, the festival will not only implement green standards but hopes to entertain and educate concert goers with a few simple ways they can bring conservation efforts to their day-to-day lives.

Treasure Island Music Festival runs from 12:30PM to 10 PM each day. Single day tickets cost $58.50, Two-day tickets cost $110 (limited quantity). There will also be a VIP four-pack available, which includes four VIP tickets to one day of the festival, one VIP parking spot, preferred viewing area, VIP Lounge with full bar and other amenities.

STAMEN & PISTILS
Release New Album "Towns" TODAY!

“... richly textured and consistently inventive.-- Washington Post

“...a bizarre group, altogether unconventional and jarring to the ears. But that’s exactly why they’re so interesting. If Animal Collective were remixed or Hood played up the quirk factor a little more, it would sound something like this.”—Treblezine.com

“...With an impressive indie warbling leading the guitar and electronic beats through their journeys, it is in the balance between the beats and more traditional music that Stamen & Pistils find their triumph...”-- Exclaim!

The second record from Stamen & Pistils is a diagonal step into new sonic terrain. On 2005’s End of The Sweet Parade, the band built a sound-scape that was largely reliant upon density for texture, with lyrical themes focused on the follies of youth, as well as passionate reactions to love and loss. But now, the band’s follow-up, Towns, sees them stripping that sonic and lyrical method down to the barest elements. The sound is refined, yet gritty, while maintaining a sparse, but textured, space throughout. Their expanded lineup now includes drummer/percussionist John Masters, whose contributions add to the organic presence in the music’s dialogue between man and machine.

At times, Towns approaches a dark, broken, Southern Gothic aesthetic, but without explicitly pursuing that specific sound. This is reflected more in the moods and lyrical content, albeit in a non-traditional form. This new sound is comprised of beat-up, vintage reedy wind instruments, keys, guitars, and vocals, all recorded and played through futuristic tools. The record time-travels through inhabited spaces — both actual and imagined — exploring an emotional relationship between the metropolis and the more private realms of rural expanses in a unique fashion.

Hailing from Washington D.C., Stamen & Pistils have built a sound atypical of what is commonly expected from this city. Acoustic based folk-pop, filled out with programmed beats and synths form a sort of controlled chaos. Influenced as much by the future as by anachronism, Stamen & Pistils aim to create something new and sincerely their own: a highly textured sonic pallet of fuzzy deconstructed pop. Towns features beautiful backing vocals by Carol Bui and Mikal Evans (Gypsy Eyes, Revival); additional production and mixdown by T.J. Lipple (Aloha); and mastered by Devin Ocampo (Mary Timony, Medications) for Silver Sonya Studios. Including members of Metropolitan, Person, and Radel Esca, the band has shared the stage with such notable acts as The Dirty Projectors, Telepathe, Asobi Seksu, The Blow, and more.

Orenda Fink’s new band, Art In Manila, to release Set The Woods On Fire on August 28, 2007

Art In Manila, Orenda Fink of Azure Ray’s new band, will release its debut LP, Set The Woods On Fire on August 28th. The album, which features Adrienne Verhoeven (formerly of The Anniversary) amongst a host of other indie music vets, is a cohesive work that draws upon and enhances each member of the bands strengths. Omaha, Nebraska’s indie titan of a record label, Saddle Creek, will handle the release

After Azure Ray disbanded in 2004, Orenda Fink, one half of the beloved Omaha-via-Athens duo, put her energies into a solo record. In 2005, she released Invisible Ones, an under-the-radar but critically acclaimed debut album.

Through the Invisible Ones touring cycle, Orenda assembled several different touring bands with revolving members, along the way making profound musical and personal friendships with her bandmates. With a little astrological nudge and some serendipitous circumstances, Orenda decided to form a new band using the cream of the crop of her touring crew. The band they formed was called Art Belle. Fearing the wrath of paranoid radio listeners "West of the Rockies" (in addition to fearing litigation), the band shortly changed its name to Art in Manila, a nod to radio host Art Bell's exodus to the Philippines. Art in Manila is comprised of Orenda on guitar and vocals, Adrianne Verhoeven on keys and vocals, Dan McCarthy also on keys, Steve Bartolomei on guitar, Ryan Fox on bass guitar, and Corey Broman on drums. Band members play or have played in: Mayday, McCarthy Trenching, The Anniversary, The Good Life, Mal Madrigal, Bright Eyes, Little Brazil, Dance Me Pregnant, Neva Dinova, and plenty of other groups both recognizable and not.

When writing tracks for “Set the Woods on Fire”, Orenda's writing process was informed by the possibilities and potential of working with a live band again. She could now write songs with each of the Art in Manila member's strengths in mind.

At times, Art in Manila travels the lush path set forth by her previous work, however, here it’s subsumed with edge and backbone. The band flirts playfully with genre wanderlust without ever abandoning cohesion. Moody slow-burners follow four-to-the-floor rockers, which butt up against serene ballads. And it all works. Orenda and company have deviated from their collective musical pasts without forsaking it... and have conjured a powerful debut record in the process.

Set the Woods on Fire, Art in Manila's debut album was recorded in Omaha, Nebraska, by Joel Petersen (The Faint, Broken Spindles) and mixed in Athens, Georgia, with longtime Orenda Fink collaborator Andy LeMaster (Now It's Overhead).

SOUL SKA PIONEERS THE PIETASTERS
RELEASE NEW STUDIO ALBUM
ALL DAY
ON AUGUST 21, 2007.

LOOK FOR THE BAND ON TOUR.

Soul-ska pioneers The Pietasters release their new studio album, All Day, on August 21, 2007 (Indication Records / RedEye USA). The release marks the band’s first release in five years. Produced by Todd Harris (James Brown), All Day displays an impeccably refined Pietasters: soul-drenched and in fine songwriting form. Expect The Pietasters’ signature sound of skankin’ punk rhythms and raucous vocal rumblings slowed down and sticky thick with the sounds of early Motown and Jamaican soul. The result is subtly nostalgic and enticingly fresh, offering plenty for both longtime listeners and younger underground music fans who missed the ska scene on the first (or second and third) go ‘round. Indeed, there is something truly timeless about ska music; and who better to remind us of that than The Pietasters?

“This record is a version of what a van ride with us would be like,” says The Pietasters’ bassist and songwriter Jorge Pezzimenti of their soul roots, rock and reggae-inspired new album. All Day captures the high energy, brotherly camaraderie and attention to detail on which they’ve built their rock-steady name as an explosive live attraction.

The Pietasters bring their high energy live show, and their new material, to venues coast to coast this summer. The current list of confirmed show dates is as follows:

June 28 River Street Jazz Café Wilkes-Barre PA
June 29 Grog Shop Cleveland OH
June 30 Mr. Small’s Theatre Pittsburgh PA

Traveling the miles along a star-kissed path, the first break came early for D.C.’s ska darlings, when The Pietasters landed a 1992 tour opening for ska originals, Bad Manners. In 1997, Rancid’s Tim Armstrong signed them to Hellcat/Epitaph where they recorded two albums with producer Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion): the genre-defining Willis (SPIN Magazine called it “An equal opportunity dancehall crasher — part ‘60s keg rock, part 2Tone and part Motown”) and Awesome Mix Tape #6 (CMJ noted it for “lacing a Stax shout-out feel with Caribbean rhythms”). The soul-charged Turbo was released in 2002 by Fueled by Ramen. The Pietasters shared bills with NOFX and Less Than Jake on the epic ’98 and ’99 Warped Tours, and followed with a stateside run with punk legend Joe Strummer. Hundreds of shows and three years later, they worked as James Brown’s back-up band for one surreal evening. And their story is still unfolding. Not bad for a bunch of guys who started out as a teenaged underground band from D.C.
