THE MORE YOU DRINK, THE BETTER WE SOUND
An interview with The Bloodhound Gang
This is a savage journey into the mind of Bloodhound Gangs DJ, Q-Ball. He joined the group in 1995 after they released their first album, “Use Your Fingers”. There is something he wants every to know about this group, “The more you drink the better we sound”. Their next album is scheduled to be release in March or April of next year. It is titled “5th Base”. There is already a single released from it titled “Screwing You On The Beach at Night”.. If you haven’t heard it I suggest you do.
What would you say one of the most Memorable or perverted moments you have had with the Bloodhound Gang?
“Everyday in the life of Bloodhound Gang is more perverted than the pervious. We got in a band argument in Berlin because the show sucked and we had loads of record reps there and to break up the tension, Jim pulled his pants down and shit a stream across the room, we all threw up and Jared pissed on the shitty floor, all of a sudden we forgot we had a bad show.”
Do you have any side projects?
“I finished a side project called The Federal Moguls with Troy Walsh, produced J.J. Sinatra and produced Dave Vegas. I'm writing a lot more for BG and I'm remixing slow hip hop tracks into club joints.”
What are your tour plans?
“We are going to play a few long tours of the US to make up for not doing it a lot on the last record.”
So how do you feel about all the new fans that just started to like the band because they saw Bam Margera hanging out with Jimmy Pop and Evil Jared?
"The more the better, fans were mad when new ones like bad touch and then those got mad at the new ones that liked Foxtrot, its evolution."
What are some of your musical influences that lead to the insanity as known as The Bloodhound gang?
“Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Slayer, Weezer, Beastie Boys, Wu Tang, Big Daddy Kane, The Fall”
Your upcoming CD is entitled "5th Base", how did you get the name for the album?
“When you say you got to fourth base with a chick it means you fucked her, 5th base means hitting it in the butt, so its our 5th record."
Will the single “Screwing you on the beach at night” be on 5th base?
“Yeah, it is our first single.”
So will this record more leave the rock sound of bloodhound gang and go more into a dj-ing sense?
“More hip hop, more weezerish tracks and hard rock, no more poppy sounding shit”
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working on music?
“Golf, Dj-ing and womanizing.”
What is your favorite place to play a show at?
“Moscow, 9:30 club in DC and Berlin. The crowds are great, the venues are cool and the down time is fun going around the town”
What would one of your favorite musical groups you have played with at a show?
“They would be Cypress Hill, Busta Rhymes, Weezer, G&R and Metallica. Because they kill it on stage and they have been doing it a long time.”
Has Bloodhound Gang ever played Jacksonville, Florida?
“Of course we have, we played in 1996 with Limp Bizkit, no one in the crowd, we played and they watched, then they played and we watched, awesome story. They invited us down and no one was there, just two crummy bouncers and a haggard bartender.”
Why was the battender so haggard?
“Toothless, blonde, looked like Lita Ford on heroin.”
Do you think you will come to Jacksonville on the next tour?
“Probably, to early to say”
