Here is The Reel Report’s quick little review of 10 Cloverfield Lane.
The movie lived up to every one of my expectations. It’s well shot, super intense, and the acting from John Goodman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead was fantastic. Making things even more impressive is that this is Dan Trachtenbergs first feature film.
I bought into all the mysteriousness of the movie because it didn’t matter what was happening above ground. All that mattered was figuring out if what John Goodman is telling our main character was the truth or is he completely crazy.
There are many scenes that are standouts in the film like the opening and the dinner scenes because the viewer is easily able to feel the tension brewing. I also haven’t felt as claustrophobic in the movies than I did while watching a scene involving an air condition unit.
For me the third act worked. Some might feel it feels shoehorned into the movie, but I feel it fits it perfectly. Can’t say much more without spoiling this film but do yourself a favor and go see this intense thriller. Just keep in mind that this is a blood retaliative to Cloverfield.
