On September 30, Bastille willkick off “The Born To Be Wild World North American Mini Tour” tour with a performance at the 89X Chill On The Hill Fest in Sterling Heights, MI. The band will also headline the fourth annual Jeep on the Rocks Concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on October 7. See below for itinerary.
“Good Grief,” the first single fromWild World, is already a Top 5 hit at Alternative radio in the U.S. The track, which has more than 36 million streams on Spotify to date, will impact the Pop formats next week with early major market airplay in New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C.In the U.K., the track reached No. 1 on Apple Music’s Hot Tracks chart, reached No. 2 in overall airplay and topped the Shazam chart. It’s also charted on Spotify’s Global, U.S. and U.K. Charts.Views for the official “Good Grief” video, which can be seen HERE, now exceed five million.
Wild World is a collection of 14 songs (19 on the complete edition) penned by vocalist Dan Smith and co-produced with Mark Crew.Rolling Stone hailed Bastille as “Brit pop’s new crown princes” and noted, “‘Wild World’ has stadium ambitions.”Q Magazine awarded it four stars and noted, “[Bastille’s] timely second album hits the right spot.” In another four-star review, DIY Magazine observed, “Opener ‘Good Grief’ sets the tone brilliantly, its pomp and grandeur juxtaposed perfectly with Dan Smith’s dark-tinged tale of coping with life after death. ‘The Currents’ is a poignant declaration of our political climate…while ‘Warmth’ counts the places we seek comfort, when the everyday horrors of modern life seem to creep too close. Musically, the band sound bolder and more ambitious, yet their core songwriting talents remain at the heart of each song.”
Dan Smith started Bastille alone in his bedroom five years ago, releasing 300 copies of debut single “Flaws/Icarus.” Joined by Chris Wood (drums), Will Farquarson (guitar) and Kyle Simmons (keyboards), the band line-up was complete. Bastille’s debut album, Bad Blood, contained the 5x Platinum single “Pompeii” and the Gold-certified tracks “Bad Blood” and “Flaws.” “Pompeii” topped Billboard’s Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Adult Alternative Songs charts and peaked at No. 3 on the Pop Songs chart.
Fans canlisten to a brand-new mixtape created by Dan Smith that features songs that have influenced the band over the years, which can be found exclusively on Pandora: http://pdora.co/BastilleMixtape.
